The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) Concerts in the Park January 9 concert featuring contemporary boy band cover group The Boy Band Project has been cancelled.

Maru Prado Conti gives a one-concert tribute to Lady Gaga, Sunday, January 16, 6 p.m., and Dwight Bake a Motown tribute January 23, with concerts at 2:30 and 5 p.m.

LLT auditions

Lakeside Little Theatre will hold auditions for “Cakewalk” by Colleen Curran and directed by Collette Clavadetscher, Thursday and Friday, January 13 and 14. Registration is 9:30 a.m. and auditions are at 10 a.m. at LLT.

Five unlikely contestants clash in a Canada Day cake baking contest. This is a delicious comedy where everyone gets their just desserts. Show dates are March 25 to April 8. Clavadetscher is looking for two men and five women.

LLT welcomes and encourages everyone interested in acting, new or experienced, to attend auditions for any of this season’s plays.

Gutierrez, originally from Batopilas, Chihuahua, began his musical career after forming a friendship with U.S. pianist Romayne Wheeler, who became his teacher and mentor. Wheeler taught him Mozart, Chopin, Schubert and more. He has traveled to Europe and the United States with his mix of ethnic and classical performances. He has become an ambassador for the Tarahumaras throughout the world.

LLT Production

Get ready for “Silent Sky,” the next stage production of the Lakeside Little Theatre, opening January 14 and running through January 23. The play by Lauren Gunderson and directed by Suki O’Brien, casts Debra Bowers, Lynn Gutstadt, Randy Warren, Kathleen Morris and Donna Burroughs.

“Everything changes in this moment. The startling and entertaining true story of early 1900s astronomer Henrietta Leavitt.

Evenings shows are at 7:30 p.m.; matinees on Saturday and Sunday are at 4 p.m.

Tickets, 300 pesos, are available online at lakesidelittletheatre.com, or at the LCS box office one hour before curtain, and Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon, during the week before and of the show.

The Ajijic Society of the Arts will hold its first 2022 garden show at the Lake Chapala Society, Saturday, January 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet the artists and browse through paintings, handicrafts, jewelry, mosaics, glass art, masks, collectibles, ceramics, T-shirts and more.

Rod Stewart Revue

The Rod Stewart Revue featuring Luis Ponce Valencia at Manix Restaurant is Wednesday, January 19, starting at 6 p.m., and Thursday, January 20, starting at 7 p.m.

You will swear you are hearing Rod Stewart, and you can hum, sing and dance if you wish.

Tickets, 450 pesos, include a wonderful meal, tips and entertainment. Drinks are not included. There is parking available across from Manix.

Bare Stage

Bare Stage Theatre’s grand post-Covid re-opening in December 2021 was a huge hit, with the special holiday production of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Next up Friday, through Sunday, January 28 to 30 is “The Gossip of Goderich” by Kevin Riordan (the same writer of their hilarious hit, “Old Wives Tales,” back in August  2019). This romantic comedy centers on an older couple coming to terms with their aging marriage, along with a couple of side romances. It’s a laugh a minute. The small-town gossiping brings home the fun and the craziness of life in a small town.

Roseann Wilshere directs. Jon DeYoung, Peggy Chilton, Brian Kaulback, Pam Pettus and Florette Schnelle make up the cast.
