Art contest

Lakeside artists are invited to participate in the annual exhibition to be held at the Centro Cultural Ajijic (CCA) that  runs from November 18 to 30.

Up to four pieces (small size) or one that does not exceed three feet in width can be entered. All works must be delivered to the CCA office by November 16, open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The title, author’s name, technique, dimensions and price must be attached to or written on the back of each piece.

Exhibits

• Enjoy the exhibition of the Day of the Dead Painting Contest at the Ajijic Cultural Center through November 15.

• A collective art show up at Galeria de Arte Axixic features four talented young artists from the Neil James Children’s Art Legacy and 15 well-known Lakeside artists.

Live Music

• Pianist Rodrigo Leal will perform a free music recital Friday, November 17, 4 p.m. at Saint Andrew’s Anglican Episcopal Church, Calle San Lucas 19 in Riberas del Pilar.

• The Ajijic Cabaret Troupe will perform Tuesday, November 28, 7 p.m. at El BarCo in a benefit for the children of Niños Incapacitados. • Las Palmas restaurant at Libramiento 96 in San Antonio Tlayacapan will host Stan Foster’s Jimmy Buffet celebration Wednesday, November 22, 6:30 p.m. Cover is 150 pesos.

• The Iron Horse Bar and grill will host Soul Sacrifice, a Carlos Santana tribute band, Saturday, September 9, 5:30 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Tiopa Banextli Health Clinic. 250 pesos cover.

Bare Stage Theatre

pg17cHe’s standing on the 7th story ledge of an apartment building, considering jumping, when he’s interrupted by a couple bickering about a wallet in the window next to him. Thus begins Bare Stage’s November production of “7 Stories” by playwright Morris Panych.

Panych is a multiple award-winning Canadian playwright whose works have been translated and produced throughout the world. “7 Stories,” a fast-paced dark comedy, full of energy, great one-liners and a wonderful parade of characters, is his most-produced play.

Directed by Darlene Sherwood, the cast includes Mark Donaldson, Sharon Jarvis, Brian King, Christine L’Ecluse, and Tony Wilshere. Art Market

The Artists Alliance of Lake Chapala will hold its monthly Art Market Saturday, November 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Garden of Dreams Boutique Hotel, Constitucion 105 in Ajijic. The featured medium this month is glass, mosaics, sculptures and ceramics. More than 50 artists and craftspeople will sell their creations. Enjoy live music, food and drinks in a garden setting.
