Ribera Arts Review - November 8, 2025

Maestros del Arte

The Feria Maestros del Arte opens Friday, November 7 and runs through Sunday, November 9 at the Hotel Real de Chapala, Paseo del Prado 20 in lower La Floresta.  Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is a donation of 100 pesos.

The work of 86 different craftspeople/families from around the Republic will on display and for sale at the fair. A program of live entertainment and a folk art lecture series will round out the event.

 

 Artisan Art Show

The Artists of Lake Chapala hosts their Artisan Art Show on Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and every third Saturday of the month) at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera (CCAR) in La Floresta, located on the Carretera. Enjoy tacos, drinks and coffee bars. Entrance is free. Above: Sculptor Alfredo Marquez at the group’s September 2025 show at CCAR.

Xayacas conquest masks take center stage in a festive weekend event at La Cochera Cultural (Javier Mina 49, Ajijic) from Friday to Sunday, November 14-16. The celebration will include workshops, dances, a mask exhibition, craft sales and conferences. Participating towns from Jalisco include Ajijic, Tonala and San Martin de las Flores, with Michoacán’s Tocuaro and Pamatacuaro also represented. • An exhibition of art by San Juan Cosala artist Xilonzochitl ‘Chivo’ Camarena, alias Xilotl, opens Friday, November 7, 4 to 6 p.m. at Casa del Sol Inn, Javier Mina 7 in Ajijic.

• Centro Cultural Ajijic presents a collective exhibition featuring painting, sculpture, graphic art and photography by dozens of local artists. The show opens with music, cocktails and appetizers on Friday, November 14, 5 p.m.

• The Lake Chapala Fine Artists Guild opens a group exhibition at La Estación Restaurant (Hidalgo 75, Riberas del Pilar, above Pancho’s East) Friday, November 7, with an opening reception, 3 to 6 p.m.

• The Efrén González Children’s Art Program is holding a Children’s Art Sale Friday, November 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Friday Art Market, held in La Huerta in West Ajijic (the same location as the Tuesday Market). Featured will be a large collection of art cards, reproductions of original works created by the talented kids in the program. This includes never-before-seen art, as well as a limited selection of original artwork. Half of all the proceeds go directly to the young artists.

Theater

• The women of the Morning Glory Baking Circle for Revolutionary Self-defense continue to shine at The BRAVO! • Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) opens the second production of its 61st season, “The Tin Woman,” on Friday, November 7. The play is based on the true story of a young woman who unexpectedly needs a heart transplant. Afterward, she decides to contact the donor’s family.

“The Tin Woman” runs from November 7 to 16, with matinees on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays at 4 p.m. and evening shows at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets, 400 pesos, are available at lakesidelittletheatre.com and at the box office before the shows.

Giacomo Puccini’s “La Bohéme” in HD Live from the Metropolitan Opera will be shown at Lakeside Little Theatre, Sunday and Monday, November 23 and 24, 4 p.m. Tickets, 350 pesos, are available online at lakesidelittletheatre.com, by email via tickets@ lakesidelittletheatre.com or one hour before every show at the LLT box office.

Improvisation class

Jill Flyer begins her next improv class on Saturday, November 8 at the Centro Cultural Ajijic on the Ajijic plaza. Flyer has an extensive background in improvisation and has developed simple, uncomplicated methods of teaching improv so that everyone can do well.
