Live Music

FRIDAY

• Codigo Music, which bills itself as the best country dance band in Ajijic, performs 6:30 p.m. No cover.

SATURDAY

• Jazz Duet Criss-Cross plays 7 p.m. at Pasta Trenta, Carretera Poniente 524 in Ajijic. Reservations: 333-868-7475.

SUNDAY

• Bola Domene from La Perla Records takes control of the drums with Tekila Blues, 3 pm. at ElBarCo rooftop stage.

• A blues jam takes place at La Bodega Ajijic, 5 p.m. “Bring your sticks, guitar, horn, and best blues voice and come jam with us: Duncan, Jimi, Charlie, David and Sergio.” Reservations: 331-443-2143. No cover.

• Monday, May 25, 3 p.m. Mariana Vigueras presents “Celine Dion: The Power of Love” at the Lake Chapala Society. VIP tickets are 600 pesos for cocktail table seating on LCS’s tree-covered back lawn; general tickets are 300 pesos. Tickets are available at the Niños Incapacitados website at www.programaninos.com. Tickets are unavailable at LCS or at the door.

• Eddie Lara gives a guitar concert at the Ajijic Cultural Center, Friday, May 29, 5:30 p.m. Tickets are 200 pesos at the door.

• An ‘80s mirador dance party is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at  360 XQMX, Constitucion 98 in Ajijic. The cover is 200 pesos.

• As part of the jazz lakeside series, a tribute concert to Ornette Coleman is planned for June 6, 3 p.m. at Casa del Arte, Avenida del Pilar 8A in Riberas del Pilar. Musicians are Alain Cano on sax, Juan Castañon on guitar, Itzam Cano on bass and Miguel Soto on drums. Tickets are 500 pesos. RSVP: 333-130-1303.

Cine de Lago invites you to IADEV FEST, a fiesta of animated adventure film shorts at Lakeside by talented students of Digital Animation from the Tecnológico Superior de Jalisco Chapala, Thursday, May 28, 12:30 p.m. Free entrance.

• Rigoberto Navarro (work shown above) and Efren Gonzalez open a sculpture and painting exhibition, “Two Perspectives, One Territory,” at the Ajijic Museo de Arte, Flores Magon 3, in Ajijic, Sunday, May 31, 4 p.m. Free admission. Exhibitions in all the galleries will be changed for this event. Cold drinks and snacks.

• 360 XQMX hosts a closing reception for David Crum’s “Stories from History” photo exhibition and an open house, Thursday, June 4, at Constitucion 98 in Ajijic.

• Paintings by Arlette Romero and sculptures by David Agredano at “Dos Visiones,” at the Galeria Luis Lopez Terriquez in the Antigua Presidencia in Chapala.

• Chapala-based textile artist Synthia David’s first local show, “Light Up Your Life,” featuring hand-painted silk batik lamps (ArtLites), handcrafted handbags and scarves, is up at Casa del Sol Inn.

• Tapatio artist Diego Reynoso’s photographic exhibit “La Marca del Agua, Capas de un Desastre,” focusing on the environment, is up at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera, open Wednesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
