We’re not stupid anymore

North of the border, we toss around the word “stupid” a lot. It’s not always meant to be taken seriously; it’s often just a throw-away, as in, “that lamp looks stupid there” or “that argument was stupid.”

Remember 40 or so years ago when, if one told somebody they were stupid, it was a grave insult? I understand from discussions with Mexican friends here at Lakeside, that to refer to something a Mexican has done or said as “estupido” is still a real offense, just like back in the day.

But liberal-minded political correctness has solved this problem for us.
