Spiritual confab

A five-day peace and spiritual cultural exchange will soon be in full swing, as the Diálogo Multicultural Universal begins Wednesday, August 29 in downtown Guadalajara. Women directed porn

This isn’t your father’s pornography—it’s your mother’s. The Muestra Cine y Sexo: la Mirada Femenina (Cinema and Sex Show: the Feminine Perspective) will be making its way to Guadalajara from the capital next week. From August 27 to September 1, this unique festival will set up shop in the University of Guadalajara’s Cineforo, exclusively showing adult films helmed by female directors.

The brand new event arrives with the support of the National Council of Culture and Art (Conaculta) and the National Film Institute (Cineteca Nacional), among others. The cultural exchange kicked off this week in Mexico City, where it ran from August 20 to 26, and included academic roundtable discussions on pornographic expression.

The tapatío version will include a Q&A with director Ingrid Ryberg following the opening film in the series, “Dirty Diaries” at 8:10 p.m. Monday, August 27. Other directors highlighted by the festival include Candida Royalle, Tristan Taormino, Erika Lust, Liandra Dahl, Marir Östber and Jennifer Lyon Bell. Admission to the films is Cineforo’s usual 45 pesos. No minors. The Cineforo is located in the basement of the University of Guadalajara’s main administration building on Avenida Vallarta and Enrique Diaz de Leon. Check www.cineforo.udg.mx for a full schedule.
