Tickets are going fast for the American Society (Amsoc) Oktoberfest/Halloween Luncheon on Thursday, October 27. Doors open at 11 a.m. Lunch, served at 1 p.m.,

will feature imported veal sausage, sauerkraut, German potato salad, and apple pie for dessert. Don’t forget to wear a Halloween costume! Cost: 120 pesos.

Amsoc’s Tuesday, November 8, U.S. Election Night Watch Party begins at 7:30 p.m. The kitchen will not be open, so attendees are asked to bring their own snacks and food to share.  There will be a cash bar. A 20-peso donation is appreciated.

Expo for women, by women

Tlaquepaque’s Centro Cultural El Refugio stages an expo hosted by and aimed at women this weekend.  Expo Tlaquefem features more than 60 successful businesswomen in various fields, including health, beauty, arts and crafts, gifts, jewelry, accessories, food, and more. Entrance to the expo is free and there will be a children’s area, food stands, entertainment and conferences (in Spanish). Open Friday, October 21 through Sunday, October 23, 11 a.m. to 8  p.m. El Refugio is at Contreras Medellin 144, three blocks from Tlaquepaque centro.

Bull riding at Expo Ganadera

Guadalajara’s famous livestock fair, Expo Ganadera, is open daily through November 6 at the Livestock Union fairgrounds, located at the Glorieta Alamo where the Chapala-Guadalajara highway feeds into Avenida Gonzalez Gallo and Lazaro Cardenas. Entrance 30 pesos. See top-breed cattle and other animals. Plenty of food, drink, entertainment, For a real north-of-the-border experience, catch bull riding and barrel racing on Thursday, October 27, 8 p.m. 

Charros baseball this weekend

The Charros de Jalisco face the Culiacan Tomateros in a three-game series Friday, October 21, 7:15 p.m.; Saturday, October 22, 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 23, 1 p.m. The action takes place at the Charros Stadium, two blocks from the Auditorio Telmex in Zapopan.
