Guadalajara consuls to host International Food Fair

The 40th International Gastronomy Festival organized by the Guadalajara Consular Association takes place Sunday, March 26, at the Centro de la Amistad Internacional.

This annual fundraising event offers a wide variety of cuisine from dozens of nations that have consular representation in Guadalajara.

Staff from consulates, colleagues and friends of consular representatives and foreign nationals living in the city take it upon themselves to prepare the different dishes.

Visitors to the fair won’t only find cuisine from major countries such as Spain, the United States, Germany, France, China and Argentina, but also smaller nations, such as Israel, Uruguay, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Australia.

As well as the booths offering traditional food and drink, there will be music and dance performances, as well as an art exhibit.  A parade of national costumes from the participating countries is also planned.

The event runs all day from noon to 7 p.m. Entry tickets cost 40 pesos.  Under 12s are free. The car park will charge 30 pesos.

Funds raised at the event are earmarked for the Casa de Descanso de la Sagrada Familia (rest home) and a rehabilitation project for youths run by Father Francisco Escalante in Colonia Meza Colorada.

The Centro de la Amistad Internacional is located at Calle Eulogio Parra 2539,  less than one block from Avenida Lopez Mateos Norte, behind the Casa Jalisco, the state governor’s official residence.
