New dance work interprets Botticelli’s ‘Spring’

Contemporary dance company Rafael Carlín y Compañía present a kinesthetic interpretation of Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli’s “La Primavera” (Spring) at the Teatro Experimental de Jalisco in downtown Guadalajara.

The work premiered last Wednesday and will continue every Wednesday, 8 p.m. until September 27.

Since its completion in the 1480s, the painting has inspired a number of critical interpretations, being a complex interweaving of pagan mythology and the world view espoused by one of the era’s most dominant philosophical credos, Neoplatonism.

The theater is located immediately to the left of the entrance to Parque Agua Azul on Calzada Independencia.  Tickets are 100 pesos for general admission and 80 pesos for students, teachers and seniors, pending presentation of credentials.
