Diverse brews on tap at 9th annual beer fest

October in Guadalajara is a burro groaning under the weight of a giant bundle of cultural happenings and she just might topple over from the addition of one in particular:

The 9th annual Festival de la Cerveza – which we reckon needs no translation – Friday to Sunday, October 6-8.

The suds-soaked festival will occupy the exterior area surrounding the Estadio Chivas, the giant green oval that is home to many Tapatios’ favorite soccer team.

Participants will include over 50 beer companies, both local (Barrio Chico, 7 Mares, Atlantica), national (Calaveras, Chela Libre, Corona, Cerveceria de Colima) and international (Delirium, Erdinger, Flesnburger, Paulaner).

Live music will be provided by, among others, Mi Banda El Mexicano, Inspector and Belanova, and food will be provided by 12 vendors.

Festival hours: Friday, 3 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Saturday, 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Sunday, noon-10 p.m.  Tickets are 150 pesos at the box office, 120 pesos presale and 300 pesos for VIPS.  No pets, no strollers.  Children over the age of three welcome, those under the age of 12 enter free.  For more information, go to festivaldelacerveza.com.mx.
