Flights dropped

Recent financial losses have forced Aeromexico to cancel several domestic and international routes, including two from Guadalajara.

Removed from the airline’s schedule are the Guadalajara-Cancun and Guadalajara-San Jose, California, routes and Aeromexico will no longer be flying from Mexico City to Boston, Washington D.C. and Portland, Oregon.

More soldiers, cops

President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has announced plans to increase the size of Mexico’s armed forces and federal police force by 50,000 elements. The final details will be announced at the end of October, when he intends to make public his policies for combatting the crime and violence in the country. Lopez Obrador said the new recruits will be guaranteed “good working conditions” and “better salaries.”  Additional plans include dividing the country into 265 regions to organize the fight against insecurity and violence, with the integration of all forces under a single command.
