The American Society of Jalisco (AMSOC) is offering a busy lineup of activities over the coming weeks, from plant-based Thursday lunches to artificial intelligence workshops and brain-training sessions.
Starting June 4, AMSOC is partnering with Speakeasy Cocina for a weekly vegan lunch series running every Thursday throughout the month. Each meal costs 120 pesos for paying members and features a rotating dish:
• June 4: Stir-fried noodles with a classic egg roll
• June 11: Mission-style burrito with salsa, cashew nacho and totopos
• June 18: Thai yellow curry with tofu and vegetables
• June 24: Lentil bolognese pasta with garlic bread and side salad
Before the series officially kicks off, a vegan lunch will also be served on Thursday, May 28. Lunches begin at noon, followed by board games and conversation.
AMSOC’s TWIG AI workshop series for expat life continues with two sessions:
• June 9 (6–8 p.m.): Health & Wellness — understanding medical info, preparing for doctor visits, navigating healthcare as an expat.
• July 14 (6–8 p.m.): Foreign Languages — using AI to speed up Spanish, translate in real time and practice conversations.
Between workshops, members can access an AI Concierge service for help with itineraries, legal questions or financial puzzles (250 pesos per request).
The society also hosts ongoing activities open to all:
• Cognitive Stimulation for Adults: Tuesdays, 11–11:45 a.m., led by Sophia Moreno to boost memory and mental agility.
• English Conversation Club: Saturdays, 2–4 p.m. — practice English in a friendly setting.
• Pilates: Tuesdays and Fridays, noon–1 p.m.
• Ballet for kids and adults: Mondays and Wednesdays (ages 3–5 at 4:30 p.m.; ages 12+ at 3 p.m.)
• Alcoholics Anonymous: Mondays and Fridays at 6 p.m., Sundays at 11 a.m.
