Holiday dining choices abound at Lakeside

Lakesiders and their guests should have no problem finding just the right taste for Christmas. Several local restaurants will be open on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to make your holiday culinary dreams come true. Lots of people in the Lake Chapala area like to eat out – so make the reservations for your holiday right away.

Restaurant Tio Domingo (Ocampo 204, West Ajijic) will hold a traditional Christmas posada on Saturday, December 17, 6 p.m. The menu will be Waldorf salad, roast beef, a glass of wine and piñatas for 170 pesos. Call 766-2453 for reservations.

Bubba’s Restaurant (carretera next to S&S Auto) will serve dinner on Saturday, December 24 (Christmas Eve) from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It includes spiral cut baked ham, smoked turkey, baked turkey, candied yams, mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn pudding, biscuits and pumpkin pie. La Bodega (Calle 16 de Septiembre 124, Ajijic) will serve dinner on Sunday, December 25 (Christmas Day) from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. On the menu is broccoli soup, green salad, turkey with the trimmings, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, coffee and carrot cake or pumpkin pie for dessert. The price is 200 pesos per person. Call for reservations at 766-1002. La Bodega will be closed on Christmas Eve.

Hotel La Nueva Posada  (Donato Guerra 9, Ajijic) will serve Christmas dinner on December 25 with three seatings: 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The menu is vegetable crudite platter with roasted garlic mimosa dip, cream of coriander Santa Isabel soup, croissant with butter, oven roasted tom turkey, country-style sage stuffing, mashed butter potatoes, giblet gravy, whole cranberry sauce, Danish red cabbage, maple glazed yams with toasted almond slivers, petite English peas, English Christmas pudding with brandied hard sauce and coffee or tea. The price is 270 pesos for adults and 190 pesos for kids under 12 years old (includes tax and tip). Call 766-1444 or 766-1344 for reservations.

Roberto’s (Carretera, just east of the Waffle House) will serve both Christmas Eve dinnerf (from 5p.m. to 10 p.m.) and Christmas Day dinner from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Entres on Dec. 24 inlude:  roast turkey, New York roquefort steak, duckling a la orange, giant seafood stuffed scampi, monster lobster tail for two and red wine and appricot loin of lamb. The next day will feature traditional Christmas entrees such as roast turkey and baked ham with all the trimmings for 150 pesos. Manix Restaurant (Ocampo 57, Ajijic) will serve their traditional Christmas Buffet on Sunday, December 25. The menu includes roast turkey and roast suckling pig with all the trimmings for 250 pesos per person. Call 766-0061 for reservations.

Armando’s Hideaway (Privada Ocampo 18, West Ajijic, between Ocampo and Zaragoza) will serve cream of broccoli soup, pepper steak or turkey and all the trimmings, house cake, a glass of wine and Kahlua or brandy on Christmas Day for 190 pesos. Call 766-2229 for reservations.

Salvador’s (Plaza Bugambilias, next to El Torito) will serve a Christmas Buffet on December 25, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The menu includes turkey and all the trimmings, baked ham, salad, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, a glass of house wine or soda, iced tea or coffee. Yve’s (Paseo del Lago 48-A on the lakefront, Ajijic) will offer a free glass of wine with your meal on December 24. The restaurant will be closed on December 25. The telephone number is 766-1851.
