Christ Church Anglican hits the road

During the annual Synod meeting, Christ Church Anglican Fellowship of Ajijic shared seating with another organized mission of the Diocese of Western Mexico in the Anglican Church of Mexico.

Christ Church representatives learned that the priest who visited La Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) in Mazamitla once a month is in hospital. Parishioners at the Mazamitla church had not had a communion service for several months. Professor Faustino Garcia Martinez and his wife Guillermina Tejada Galvez asked if Christ Church might consider bringing church to them.

Christ Church vicar Danny Borkowski spent many years in a country where he carried “Church-in-a-Box” to several different locations in order to serve small groups of parishioners. So members of Christ Church voted to cancel their March 18 service at Manix Restaurant in Ajijic and take church, along with a picnic for both groups, to La Sagrada Familia.

Those traveling from Lakeside will meet at Farmacia Guadalajara and depart promptly at 9 a.m., with a dish to share at the fried chicken picnic. Father Borkowski will lead the noon service that meets at Professor Garcia’s home. The picnic with the eight members of the La Sagrada Familia congregation will follow the service.

Newcomers and visitors, as well as members of other churches, are welcome to join in this “Church-in-a-Box” and “Moveable Feast” experience.
