Vacation Bible School studies ark

The Spanish- and English-speaking families at Lakeside Presbyterian Church held their first-ever Vacation Bible School this past week.

Led by Victoria Smith, Nelda Pineda, Lynn Hanson and Heather Cogswell Flores, more than 20 children aged from from five to 14 years old studied the story of Noah’s Ark.

Ralph and Pat Courtney built a replica of Noah’s Ark as a learning tool and the children finished painting the ark and the animals (the ones that boarded two by two) just before Earth was flooded. The ark finally rested on Mount Arafat.

Sunday, July 15, the children will present a brief skit exhibiting their handiwork at both the Spanish and English services.

Lakeside Presbyterian Church and Iglesia del Lago (Spanish-speaking congregation) both offer Sunday school classes during the worship services each Sunday. The English language worship service and Sunday school begin at 10 a.m. and the Spanish language worship service and Sunday school begin at noon. The community is invited to join in fellowship each Sunday as well as to participate in a multitude of Bible-based activities held weekly at the church.

The church is located on the mountain side of the Chapala-Jocotepec Carretera just west of S&S Auto and Bubba’s Restaurant.
