LCS, Minerva beer to stage Oktoberfest

It’s time to get out your lederhosen and dirndls, practice your polka and get ready for some old fashioned fun.

Taking the lead from Munich that holds what is heralded as the biggest party in the world, the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) is throwing their own brand of Oktoberfest on October 6, 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Keeping with tradition, the party will be sponsored by a brewery as the festivities are in Bavaria. Cerveza Minerva is the official sponsor, featuring their Oktoberfest Special Brew and three types of beer on tap in the beer tent.

Big Daddy is catering the food and is going for quantity as well as quality. Ticket holders will be presented a German meal of two bratwursts and buns, red cabbage, sauerkraut, German potato salad and American potato salad along with a free glass of Minerva’s special brew. The wine bar will offer red or white wines as well as soft drinks and water and a selection of more expensive wines and the imported Erdinger bottled beer will be available for those who wish to purchase bottles for their table. Desserts will include plum cake.

It wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without music and musicians will be pumping out German polkas, drinking songs and favorites on request. Dancing in the gazebo will be encouraged as The Barbershop Mixed Chorus and a marching band will be keeping the beat.

Tickets are available at the LCS Café Patio table or in the Lake Chapala Society office between 10 a.m. and noon, Monday through Saturday, at Diane Pearl Colecciones and Opus Boutique beginning on August 27. Reservations for tables of eight or more are being accepted. Don’t wait. Everyone is going to be there and when the tickets are sold out, they are sold out.
