Early Independence party to raise funds for Rotary

Lakesiders can get a heads up on Mexico’s Independence celebrations when the Rotary Club of Ajijic stages a “Fiesta Fundraiser” on Friday, September 14, 3-7 p.m.

The party at Las Caballerizas Coxala Restaurant in the San Juan Cosala Raquet Club will include a delicious dinner, dancing to live music by Noe, a silent auction and a cash bar. Everyone will get a free margarita to toast Mexican Independence Day (actually September 16) in style while having a gander at the panoramic view from the restaurant.

The auction will offer a variety of items for all budgets. There will be framed art, dinner gift certificates, life-sized modern art figures, jewelry, pottery, specialty wines and tequila and handmade luxury items.

Tickets for 300 pesos are on sale at Diane Pearl’s Colecciones or contact Anita Hocker at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Proceeds will fund several Rotary community service projects. These will have representatives present at the event from 3 to 4 p.m.

Rotary is a community service and fellowship organization with more than two million members worldwide. Ajijic Rotary meetings are held every Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Hacienda Ajijic’s Steak House. Visitors and those interested in becoming Rotary members are welcome to attend meetings.
