Rotary dinner to aid polio fight

The Colegio de Medicos de la Ribera de Chapala (Chapala Doctors College) and the Rotary Club of Ajijic will hold their second annual “End Polio Now” dinner-dance on Wednesday, November 14, 6:30 p.m. at Roberto’s Restaurant in Ajijic.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Rotary International’s campaign that is contributing to the worldwide eradication of this crippling and often fatal disease.

The event begins with cocktails and live music at 6:30 p.m. followed by a gourmet four-course dinner at 7:15 p.m. A special door-prize drawing will follow dessert. Dancing will continue until 10 p.m.

Tickets at 300 pesos are on sale at Diane Pearl Colecciones or from Rotary members. Tickets can also be purchased during Rotary meetings at the Hacienda Ajijic Steak House Tuesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Thanks to the efforts of the World Health Organization and Rotary International there have been no cases of polio in Mexico in more than 20 years.
