Canadian defense attaché to visit Chapala for talk

A Canadian military attaché based in Mexico City will visit the Chapala area for the first time on Friday, November 16.

Colonel Jamieson Cade, the Canadian Defence Attaché to Central America, will give a talk at Ajijic’s La Nueva Posada at 4 p.m. (there will be a no-host bar starting at 3 p.m.)

Born in Barrie, Ontario, Cade was a member of the Army Cadets from 1974 until June 1979, where upon he enrolled into the Regular Force. The highlight of his career was being appointed Commanding Officer Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) from 2002 to 2004, during which time the Regiment deployed squadrons to Bosnia and Afghanistan.

In June 2005, Cade was promoted to Colonel and assumed responsibility for coordinating all aspects of Army force generation for overseas and domestic operations. In 2009, he received the Meritorious Service Medal for his body of work as Deputy Commander of the Joint Task Force in Afghanistan and in 2012 he was awarded the Order of Military Merit.

Canadians and others are invited to hear this talk by a senior military officer with vast experience.

Cade’s wife Beth will also be in attendance at the Ajijic event, as will the Canadian Consul in  Guadalajara, Yvonne Chin.
