Ajijic to throw Roman feast

The Ajijic plaza will be the setting for a full-blown Roman-style banquet booked for Saturday, February 9, 5 to 9 p.m.

Jointly organized by Grupo Pro-Ajijic and the Pasion de Cristo theater troupe – the same folks who put together last November’s Day of the Dead celebration – the step back to ancient times gala is planned as a fund-raiser for the town’s annual Easter Passion Play,

A decadent dinner menu featuring roasted lamb and suckling pig will be prepared by chefs at Manix Restaurant. Passion Play performers decked out in period costume will serve the meal. Although dress for those attending is optional, togas and similar garb is encouraged to enhance the ambience.

Orquesta Ajijic will provide a musical backdrop. Added services include a no-host bar and valet parking. Tables will be set to seat groups of ten.

Admission is set at 350 pesos per person, with the promise of “a wicked good time for a worthy cause.” To allow for adequate planning, tickets will be available through February 6 at the Lake Chapala Society, Diane Pearl Gallery, Manix and El Jardin Restaurant on the plaza.
