The Texas BBQ feast held August 10 at the Ajijic plaza was rated as a big hit among the predominantly expat crowd of more than 200 who turned out to support village improvement projects.
Guests raved equally about the sumptuous spread prepared by Manix Restaurant staff, great dance tunes cranked out by the rock band Mike and the Suspects, the friendly atmosphere and the event’s seamless organization.

“While there were a few minor hiccups, overall the event was a huge success,” commented Bob Howe, a member of the citizen advisory committee responsible for most of the heavy lifting. “Hector was busier than a one armed paper hanger, BBQing, dancing, arranging stuff and talking with all the people.”
Proceeds from the bash will go towards completing the renovation of the plaza, continuing street and sidewalk repairs, partial resurfacing of streets that house the weekly outdoor tianguis market to make them more pedestrian friendly and other similar efforts.
