Lady of the rosary heads home

Ajijic’s month of observances honoring the Virgen del Rosario  come to a climax Thursday, October 31. A colorful procession departs from the back side of the San Andres parish around 4:30 p.m., as danzante troupes outfitted in exotic costumes, scenic floats, a drum and bugle corps and the inevitable blasts of sky rockets lead the entourage of pilgrims around town.

The march follows Guadalupe Victoria, Constitucion-Ocampo and Hidalgo before ending at the church atrium for celebration of Mass. After the service the image of the Virgin will be toted around the plaza back to her home chapel. The hoopla will roll on well into the night, closing with a blazing castillo fireworks display.
