Weekly Worship - February 13, 2016

Lake Chapala Baptist

“Many people our age have hearing difficulties,” says Brother Bob Hendrick.

“There are aids to help remedy hearing problems. But, what I often encounter and sometimes experience is not what would be labeled ‘hard of hearing’ but what would more accurately be called ‘hard of listening.’ There is no surgery, prosthesis, or appliance to fix hard-of-listening. And that is a shame because some of what goes in one ear and out the other carries news of blessing and life or warning of eternal consequences. The author of the Epistle of Hebrews cautions his readers to pay attention lest they miss blessing and eternal life that is only in the Son.”

Attend the service at the Lake Chapala Baptist Church on Sunday, February 14, 11 a.m. The church is at Santa Margarita 179 in Riberas del Pilar.

Saint Andrew’s Anglican

Traditionally, the first Sunday of Lent remembers Jesus’ temptations in the Judean desert. Fr. Winston Welty’s sermon at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church on Sunday, February 14 connects that wilderness testing with our own struggles, and suggests that Lent can be a time of “Remembering Who We Are.”

Worship begins at 10 a.m., the children’s bilingual Sunday School is at 9:45, and “Coffee Hour” in the garden follows the worship service.

On the second Sunday of each month, donations are received for the support of Sunday School children and their families in Jocotepec. And every Sunday, the feeding program supported by St. Andrew’s welcomes donations of non-perishable items, left in baskets by the church doors.

Every Wednesday in Lent from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., this year’s Bible Study is “Muted Voices: Old Testament Women,” stories that bring men and women to a clearer understanding of how to live as persons of faith in a faithless world. This week: Sarah.

St. Andrew’s is at Calle San Lucas 19, a block south of the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar.
