Quince fest sweetens scene in Ixtlahuacán

Lakesiders with a hankering for adventure involving food, fun and festivity will want to head over to the neighboring town of Ixtlahuacaán de los Membrillos next weekend to take in the revival of its Festival del Membrillo.

Opening Friday, July 29, 4 p.m. with a colorful parade through the town center, the three-day program features lots of lively entertainment including music and dance shows, exhibitions of hot-air paper balloons, charro-style lasso tricks and dancing horses, along with commercial stands and a culinary contest putting the spotlight of the homegrown signature fruit. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Motor heads will enjoy seeing the traffic police motorcycle squad on Friday, vintage cars on Saturday and souped-up hotrods on Sunday. Three separate pavilions will be set up around the plaza to showcase crafts produced by diverse indigenous tribes, gastronomic specialties from 13 Jalisco municipalities, and a variety of top brand tequilas to sample and take home.
