Legion’s full weekend of events

American Legion Post Seven will celebrate American Legion Day, Friday September 16, by posting the proclamation in which the U.S. Congress set aside for the organization that day in 2007.

Due to the concurrent Mexican federal holiday, the kitchen will be closed, but the bar opens at noon.

Sunday, September 18 is POW/MIA Recognition Day. For the first time Post Seven will place front and center the single-man POW/MIA table (always set in its dining room). At 10 a.m. a video will be played of the six-man POW/MIA ceremony in which all services take part on most U.S. military bases. Vice Commander Vince Britton hopes that any POW or MIA Legion members or former military vets will come to the event.

Monday, September 19, Post Seven will jump the gun and celebrate Oktoberfest. The public is invited to enjoy the social hour beginning 2 p.m. and dinner at 3 p.m. The menu is pork loin with sauerkraut, German potato salad, German chocolate cake and German beer on tap. Music is by D.J. Howard. Tickets are 160 pesos while they last.  Post Seven is located at Morelos 114 in Chapala.
