Everyone is welcome to Bible study on Saturdays at 9:15 a.m. This week we study The Day of the Lord. This week wraps up the series with five Major Themes of 1 and 2 Peter.

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, (1 Peter 3:18).

Worship service is Saturday, 10:20 a.m.

You may download the full lesson quarterly from Amazon in Kindle format (Canadian link, U.K. link). If you don’t have a Kindle, download the reader for the PC, or the free app for mobile devices.

Unitarian Universalists

Sunday, June 25, Carol Johnson will give a presentation entitled “A Celebration of the Summer Solstice” at the meeting of the Lakeside Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

Johnson will explore the universal human inclination to follow the sun throughout the year. On the summer solstice, humans have created rituals that honor this most glorious day of the year, the time of maximum daylight, before the sun begins its annual retreat towards winter.

Richard Clarke  is the service leader.

The Unitarians meet 10:30 a.m. at Hidalgo 261 in Riberas del Pilar, opposite the bell tower, on the north side of the Carretera. For more information, call Fred Harland at (376) 766-1458.

Lake Chapala Baptist

Says Brother Bob Hendrick: “When the ambulance arrived, EMTs found K with his own finger inserted through his left pectoral muscle and into a chamber of his heart. It was to slow the bleeding from an intentional, self-inflicted, bullet wound. An ER doctor told him to use the finger trick. Many interesting tales border that event. That is my friend K, the rodeo clown. Who saved K’s life - the doctor, with his advice; the EMTs, with their skill; K, with his own heroic measure? K says it was Jesus Christ. And he lives to fulfill the purpose for which his life was eternally saved. I do too, but with much less drama.”

Sunday, June 25, 11 a.m., Brother Hendrick will give the sermon at the worship service of the Lake Chapala Baptist Church, located at Santa Margarita 147, Riberas del Pilar.

Abundant Life

Pastor Gary Neighbor says “Holiness is a requirement for seeing God. The question is, what is holiness? Is holiness following a list of rules? Is holiness something that good people have and bad do not? The Bible states specifically that even the religious people are not holy in his sight. It is time that the church and world understand that we can´t just act holy or pretend to be holy. We must have a holiness that only comes from God. Come this Sunday, June 25 and allow God to make you holy.”

Home Church Int’l

Pastors Paul and Susana Allen wish to continue with sharing the beliefs of Home Church International.  This week’s subject focuses on God’s Son, Jesus Christ. This means that God intervened in the affairs of mankind with His own presence, this done via the action of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was God’s only begotten son, and thus is God incarnate.  Jesus affirmed His oneness with God by saying, “He who hath seen Me has seen the Father.” Because of this miraculous event, this means that through Jesus God was accomplishing His own plans and desires for mankind. Jesus came by way of the birth through the virgin Mary, which was something only our incredible God could accomplish.

God’s merciful plan was to save His creation from itsown self-destruction. Without some special intervention, men would simply die as expected, and without hope. Their souls had no chance of being heaven-bound without Him. Therefore, God had to rescue men by eliminating that which separated them from Him. Their sin and rebellion had to be dealt with.
