In addition to his prodigious piano talents, Parra is a prolific composer and received a commission to write a composition based on traditional Huichol ceremonies. “Tater-Kie: Eight impressions of Wixarika Holy Week” premiered in April 2016.

Parra’s music has been performed at the Palcco auditorium and UdG Paraninfo in Guadalajara; SUNY in Oneonta, New York State; and Steinway Hall in New York City.

Parra’s concert will include Schubert’s Piano Sonata No. 21, Alban Berg’s Sonata in One Movement, Franz Liszt’s “Benediction” and Robert Schumann’s Abegg Variations. He may also offer a taste of one of his own compositions for an encore.

Tickets, at 300 pesos, are available at Diane Pearl, Mia’s Boutique and the Lake Chapala Society, Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to noon.
