Canadian Thanksgiving dining options

Canadians living at lakeside rejoice!

You don’t have to celebrate Thanksgiving at home this year. The following list of events is held on Monday, October 9 unless otherwise noted.

The Chapala branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and American Legion Post 7 Chapala are sponsoring a Canadian Thanksgiving celebration at the Casa del Musico restaurant in San Antonio Tlayacapan. Valet parking will be available. A social hour begins 2 p.m. and the traditional Thanksgiving dinner is served at 3 p.m. Door prizes, a meat draw and a 50/50 draw will be on tap. The Canadian Club of Lake Chapala will hold their Thanksgiving at La Nueva Posada, serving tomato bisque Pernod, homemade croissant, roast turkey, country sage stuffing, whipped potatoes, giblet gravy, sweet potatoes with almond slivers, English peas, and maple-flavored pumpkin pie with vanilla crème for 310 pesos. Cocktails are at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. Call 766-1414 for reservations.

Maria Isabel Restaurant will offer a four-course traditional turkey dinner for 250 pesos. Music is by DJ Phil, with a full-bar happy hour. Dinner is served from 4-9 p.m. Reservations: 766-5157.

Panino Deli and Restaurant is offering turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, cornbread dressing, green beans, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce for 165 pesos from 1-4 p.m. No reservations necessary.

Roberto’s Canadian Thanksgiving feast is from 2-7 p.m. The menu includes fresh crab bisque al Cognac, a holiday salad, red and white wine aspic with grapes and marscapone topping, roast turkey with all the trimmings, cured baked ham or salmon au artichoke and a choice of pumpkin praline pie, mincemeat cobbler, chocolate mousse or key lime pie and an amaretto fizz and coffee for 225 pesos. Salvador’s menu is stuffed roast turkey, baked ham, Waldorf, pasta and green salads, corn bread, mashed potatoes, and a variety of desserts including pumpkin and pecan pies, a glass of house wine, beer or margarita, iced tea of soft drink and coffee for 200 pesos. Reservations: 766-2301.

Manix will hold its event Sunday, October 8 from noon to closing. The menu is Waldorf salad, roast turkey, apple or pumpkin pie for 250 pesos. Reservations: 766-0061.
