Lake Chapala Baptist

Says Brother Bob Hendrick: “I am now carrying my limited-edition Mac Tools collectors’ pocket knife. I ran across it a while back when looking for something else in our safe. It was made in about 1980. It was given to me somewhere around 1985. It is number 11,547 of 12,000. It has three sharp American-made surgical steel blades. The blade of my old Parker pocket knife has been getting progressively shorter and narrower from use, abuse, and sharpening. When I rediscovered my ‘new’ knife I thought, ‘That will be worth something someday.’ And then I realized that since I use a pocket knife a lot and since I need a new pocket knife, it is valuable now. Similarly, faith in Jesus is never going to be more valuable than when you need it. And you need it now.”

Sunday, November 5, 11 a.m., Brother Hendrick will give the sermon at the worship service of the Lake Chapala Baptist Church, located at Santa Margarita 147, Riberas del Pilar.

Refreshments and coffee will be available in the fellowship hall beginning 9 a.m.

The Lunch Bunch will meet at Gosha’s Restaurant at 11:15 a.m.  The Bible Study will meet Tuesday, November 7, 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the Little Chapel.

As a people dedicated to the Lord, it is our obligation to choose carefully who we allow to influence us.”  Sunday, November 5, Pastor Neighbor will consider the impact that social networking is playing on the church´s influence in the world. “Perhaps it is time to have less face … and more Book in your life as well. The goal is to grow and be more like Jesus.  This takes priority over any other thing that we may enjoy in this life.”

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico and has services for everyone. St. Andrew’s Anglican

Sunday at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church we will observe the Feast of All Saints, a mystical feast which reminds us that we are knit together not only with those among us now, but all those who have gone before us.  Mother Liza Spangler, who begins her service as our interim priest, says it is an affirmation that we are never alone in our lives, but are continuously supported by the prayers and fellowship of those past and present, seen and unseen.

Worship begins at 10 a.m. The Holy Eucharist will be celebrated Sunday, November 5, by Bishop-Designate Fr. Ricardo Joel Gomez Osnaya, who is visiting all the parishes in the Diocese. The bilingual children’s Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m.  “Coffee Hour,” a time of fellowship and welcome, follows the service.

Sunday, November 5, Pastor Raul Frutos once again visits the Little Chapel pulpit, this time to discuss our true identity. His talk, entitled “An Identity Crisis,” is drawn from various passages.

Says Little Chapel’s Pastor Ken Armstrong: “Many believers have been deceived or misled about who we are in Christ. This is certain to be a lively and enlightening discussion!”

San Andres English

“How easy it is for human pride to falsify God’s message, to make capital out of it.  Today ,let us honor God in humility, sincerity and truth.”

So says Fr. Basil G. Royston, D. Min., who will offer the homily “God’s Message of Eternal Life” at San Andres Catholic Church’s English-language service on Sunday, November 5, 9 a.m.

The San Andres English congregation holds a “First Sunday of the Month Food Drive” to help support the children at Villa Infantil orphanage in Jocotepec and the sisters who care for them. Consider bringing a non-perishable food item, toilet tissue, cleaning products, and the like to Sunday’s Liturgy.

San Andres is located at the corner of Ramon Corona and Parroquia, one block from the Ajijic main plaza.

Home Church Int’l

When we do something harmful to another, possibly two things will go through our heads. One, if in rebellion, we might say anything to justify our deeds or words. We act as blame-shifters. The other thought might be, “I didn’t really mean to do or say that.” This person is acting self-righteous. No change or adjustment will be found in either of these cases. They are failing to recognize and define life other than their own existence. Something’s missing. They are not dealing with their present and eternal being.

To aright one’s self through the awareness of the blunder, one needs to weigh the consequences, and sense the positive outcome of dealing with the issue. This is why John the Baptist preached to the people in the wilderness to repent, meaning to think differently, change your mind, regret your sins, change your conduct, “for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Early in His ministry, Jesus did the same, emphasizing repentance. Pastors Paul and Susana Allen surmise that repentance could be a needed action in most lives, probably for unholy issues not being dealt with. The decision is ours.
