Shabbat Torah services are held the first and third Saturday of the month, 10 a.m., and Shabbat evening services and potluck every second and fourth Friday, 6 p.m. at the Lake Chapala Jewish Congregation.

Little Chapel by the Lake

Christ Church Episcopal
Christ Church Episcopal, a mission of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the 24th Sunday after Pentecost, November 19, with Holy Communion at 9 a.m. in the Little Chapel by the Lake. Vicar Danny Borkowski will preside and the Most Rev. Sandy Olsen will give the message, “Treasure and Talent,” based on Matthew 25:14-30.
Note that until further notice, the time of service has been changed to 9 a.m. from 9:30 a.m., and refreshments and coffee will be available in the Fellowship Hall of Little Chapel following the service.
The Lunch Bunch will meet at Lake Taco Restaurant at 11:15 a.m. The Bible Study will meet Tuesday, November 21, 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the Little Chapel, where they will continue their exploration of Paul’s letters in chronological order. All are welcome.
Unitarian Universalists
The Rev. Daniel O’Connell of First Unitarian Church of Houston will preach via video on “A UU View of Taoism” at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship service Sunday, November 19.
Rev. O’Connell will look at the three jewels of Taoism — humility, moderation and compassion — in a UU context and see that “peace is who you are without a story.” Fred Koesling is the service leader.

Lake Chapala Baptist
Says Brother Bob Hendrick: “I have had the refreshing experience of clearing the cache of a slow or glitchy computer program or app. Cache is info stored so that a program is not starting from scratch when you use it. Cache is ‘baggage’ that is reopened to start new work with a context. However, there can be so much baggage cached that a program is cluttered to the point that it has no room to do new work. Then the cache needs to be cleared … not because the computer is weak or tired, but because it is cluttered. I have also had the refreshing experience of a Sabbath’s rest. The word “Sabbath” does not mean Saturday or Sunday. Its meaning is closer to “intermission.” It is a day to clear a person’s cache. Even if he is not tired or weak, a person’s programming can be cluttered. Let me recommend a Sabbath’s rest to help remedy a glitchy life.”

Abundant Life Church

Sunday, November 19, Pastor Matthew will minister in both English and Spanish, speaking on what the scriptures say about temptation and our victory over them.
Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico and has services for everyone. An English-language worship service is held each Sunday, 10 a.m. and Bible Study Wednesday, 3 p.m. Spanish-language services are Sunday at noon. St. Andrew’s Anglican
Sunday, November 19, at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mother Liza Spangler will explain why the Gospel of the Talents is frequently used to urge us to use our God-given gifts wisely and well. However, this Gospel also teaches us a lesson in how our image of God can affect both our lives and the person we become – for better or for worse.
The Holy Eucharist begins 10 a.m., and the bilingual children’s Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. Coffee Hour, a time of fellowship and welcome, follows the service.
Every Sunday, the feeding programs supported by St. Andrew’s welcome donations of non-perishable food items. Boxed milk and empty cardboard egg cartons are especially welcome, in addition to rice, beans, pasta, oil and salt.

The church is located at San Jorge 250 in Riberas del Pilar. Turn toward the lake at Mom’s Restaurant and it is two blocks down on the right. English-language services begin each Sunday, 10 a.m. and Spanish-language services are 9 a.m. and noon. Everyone is welcome.
San Andres English

So says Fr. Basil G. Royston, D. Min., who will offer the homily “Christ, the Head of His Household,” at San Andres Catholic Church’s English-language service on Sunday, November 19, 9 a.m.
After Mass, the San Andres English congregation will have a “Second Sunday White Envelope Offering” for the outreach projects of their congregation. This offering supports many local charities: six student scholarships, Villa Infantil, Operation Feed, Cruz Roja, Niños Incapacitados, El Corazon del Ancianos, the Ancianos Christmas Dinner, the San Andrés fiesta, Niños y Jovenes, and scholarships for local Seminarian students.

Have you ever heard the expression, “It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you believe in something?” Such a homespun philosophy couldn’t be more superbly wrong. Another false assumption is, “Well, as long as you believe in a religion, you’re doing the right thing.” The problem is that a “religion” is mere ceremony and practices. Jehovah God has revealed Himself for many millennia as the Creator and the one, true living God, revealing Himself personally through His Son, Jesus Christ.
