LCS sponsors Career Day at local Prepa

Students at Chapala’s Preparatoria Regional gained valuable insights on future employment options during the Career Day program held March 15 under the auspices of the Lake Chapala Society (LCS).

The on-campus event featured 42 presentations by local professionals and entrepreneurs who discussed their own experiences in breaking into fields such as medicine, engineering, law, nutrition, aviation, private business start-up and administration. The talks were complemented by 40 exhibitions on educational opportunities and local businesses, as well as varied recreational activities throughout the day.

The annual Career Day program is geared for fourth, fifth and sixth-semester high school students who are the verge of making important decisions about pursuing university studies, launching businesses or entering the job market. The guest speakers covered all aspects of their respective career choices, including study requisites, obstacles they face and personal growth through their achievements.

With the support of 20 expat and Mexican volunteers, the LCS logistics team put the project together on the premise that it helps guide young people in navigating crucial decision-making that may ultimately benefit their adult lives and the community at large.
