Christ Church Lakeside
Christ Church Lakeside, formally Christ Church Episcopal, a Anglican/Episcopal mission of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the Fourth Sunday of Easter, April 22, with the Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. in the La Huerta Eventos Center (where the Tuesday Organic Market is held), Carretera West 522, West Ajijic. Rev. Robbin Del Nagro will preside and Bishop Sandy Olson will give a message, “What Would Jesus Have Us Do?”
Following the refreshments and coffee after the service, the Lunch Bunch will meet at noon in the CocinArt Restaurant, 16 de Septiembre 4-D, Ajijic, cel. 331-395-3810.
The Bible Study will not meet until resuming sometime in May. At that time all are welcome to learn about the inspired contents of the Bible.

Says Deacon David Powell: “All of us have had hopes, dreams and expectations throughout our lives and most of us still do. Sometimes they come to fruition and sometimes they don’t. In fact, there are times when they’re lost in a moment of time. Most of you reading this could probably share stories of joy when things have gone well for you and no doubt you have tales of disappointment as things haven’t gone as you had hoped and planned. I know what it’s like to be ecstatic when hopes are fulfilled and I know the feeling of devastation when they don’t.
“There were a variety of people in the Bible’s gospel accounts who met Jesus and their lives were changed. The last couple of Sunday mornings we’ve been looking at some of these people and the changes they experienced in a series of sermons entitled ‘Close Encounters of the Best Kind.’ We’ll continue this Sunday with the experience of two men who had their hopes crushed and were ready to give up. They met Jesus and discovered that things aren’t always the way they appear. They needed an eternal perspective. They got it and became hopeful once again!

Sunday, April 22, Dr. Wayne Cook’s sermon is entitled “A Witch, a Donkey, and a Blessing,” drawing his text from Numbers 22:1-6.
How many among us are so involved with our own short-term goals and plans that we fail to realize our wants may conflict with God’s will? How “human” it is to think we have a plan for our lives that is somehow better than the one God has devised.
Baalam was just such a man. He thought to ignore God in order to implement a more profitable venture. If not for a talking donkey, he would have lost his life!
Lakeside Presbyterian Church is located at San Jorge 250 in Riberas del Pilar. English-language services begin each Sunday at 10 a.m., Spanish-language services at 9 a.m. Sunday School for adults begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Library, and Fridays, Bible Study begins at 9:45 a.m., also in the Library. Little Chapel by the Lake
“In the second chapter of Ephesians, the apostle Paul writes that if we could earn our own salvation, we’d just brag about it,” says Pastor Ken. “What does this have to do with the full armor?” he asks. “Find out the answer to this and other pressing questions in a life-changing, six-week series that will have you looking at ‘the full armor of God’ like you never have before.”
This Sunday’s conversation at Little Chapel, titled “Full Armor,” is drawn from Ephesians 6 and other passages. Pastor Ken takes you to the historical and biblical context of the Roman armor the apostle Paul was describing in his letter to the church at Ephesus.
Non-denominational Christian, English-language Sunday worship service is at 11 a.m. An informal hour of worship music, prayer, and open communion begins at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to stay for a friendly comida (church meal) after the service.

St. Andrew’s Anglican

The Company of Gentlemen meet for their monthly luncheon Wednesday, April 25, noon at CocinArt in Ajijic.
Every Sunday, Operation Feed, the feeding program supported by St. Andrew’s, welcomes donations of non-perishable food items. Boxed milk and empty cardboard egg cartons are especially welcome, in addition to rice, beans, pasta, lentils, garbanzos, oats, oil and salt. The parish distributes these foodstuffs to the Lakeside’s neediest families.

Donations of clothing, kitchenware, electronics, bric-a-brac, furniture, appliances, books, collectables, sports equipment, etc., enables the parish to financially support a number of charities around Lakeside. Todo Bueno is located on the highway, next to S&S Auto in Riberas de Pilar, and is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

Unitarian Universalists

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico and has services for everyone. Some people are less alert than others and seem to avoid any challenges. They simply want to be occupied with less challenging matters. Yet, what does a person do when faced with something unavoidable? This is the time when we say that something is put “in the back of our minds.”
Though this may not be scientifically accurate, it shows an inability to face facts. A serious example might be when the doctor says you have a serious illness. You can either deal with the diagnosis, or pretend it’s not really important. Really? Faced with this, is it wise to say “Not now?” More critical than this, we see the testimony of the cemetery with its headstones. When are you going to deal with this? Not now? Really? You are already an eternal spirit. What happens when the body dies? Many say, “I don’t want to think about it.” Really? No pretense. It won’t go away.
