Shabbat Torah services are held the first and third Saturday of the month, 10 a.m., and Shabbat evening services and potluck every second and fourth Friday, 6 p.m., at the Lake Chapala Jewish Congregation.

Christ Church Lakeside
Christ Church Lakeside, a mission of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the eighth Sunday after Pentecost, Sunday, July 15, with the Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. in the La Huerta Eventos Center. Jim Powers will preside and Rev. Danny Borkowski will give a message “Ministry” based on Mark 6:7-29.

The Bible Study will meet Tuesday, July 17, 2 p.m. in the home of Elizabeth Carroll, at Galeana 35 in Ajijic. All are welcome to learn about the inspired contents of the Bible.

Do you try to know too much? While we live in the computer age and information is everywhere, there is still a point where we just have to be happy with what we know. This is true also when it comes to our lives in Jesus. Too many people try to make Christianity complicated, saying that you need to read the Bible in Greek or Hebrew in order to be confident in your faith. Sunday, July 15, Pastor Gary will challenge us to live by faith, being confident not in what we know but who knows us … Jesus.
Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico and has services for everyone. An English-language worship service is held each Sunday, 10 a.m. and Bible Study Wednesday, 3 p.m. Spanish-language services are Sunday at noon. St. Andrew’s Anglican
The passion of John the Baptist to stand up for what he believed, no matter the cost, marks him in history as a man of courage. Equally challenging issues confront us in today’s world. In her sermon this Sunday, the Rev. Robbin Del Nagro asks us what we can take away from this gospel story.
St. Andrew’s service of Holy Eucharist begins Sunday, 10 a.m., and bilingual Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. Coffee hour, a time of fellowship and welcome, follows the service.
Every Sunday, Operation Feed, the program supported by St. Andrew’s, welcomes donations of non-perishable food items. Boxed milk and empty cardboard egg cartons are especially welcome, in addition to rice, beans, pasta, lentils, garbanzos, oats, oil and salt. The parish distributes these foodstuffs to Lakeside’s neediest families.
Every donation or consignment you make to the Todo Bueno resale shop benefits the Outreach Ministry of St. Andrew’s, enabling the parish to support a number of charities around Lakeside. Todo Bueno is located on the highway, just west of S&S Auto in Riberas de Pilar, open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Unitarian Universalists
At the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Sunday, July 15, Joan Bellamy will deliver the sermon, “Where is Home?” by Reverend Sue Browning.
This sermon begins with the premise that home is a place where one should not be afraid. This continues our summer exploration that will use the words of Unitarian Universalist leaders to help us understand how UUs can respond to the ethical challenges facing the world and the United States. Trudy Crippen is service leader.

Little Chapel by the Lake
A desperate father’s cry of pain on the behalf of his tormented son: “Jesus, I believe you can help him … but honestly I also have a lot of doubts!” He wasn’t a disciple. Evidently he wasn’t even very spiritual. He was just a dad who felt helpless to save his son. Jesus promptly rescues the boy from diabolic forces. He makes no demands of the dad to have greater faith. No rebuke for having doubts. Sunday, July 15, Pastor Wayne Cook’s sermon will be about love, taking his text from 1 Corinthians. What is so great about love? Jesus said the two greatest commandments are first, to love God, and then, to love your neighbors. John declared that if you do not love your brother, it is impossible to love God.
1 Corinthians 13 is called the love chapter. Paul says love is a gift, indeed, the supreme gift. Then, surprisingly, he contrasts it with lesser gifts. Even amazing displays of giftedness are worthless without love.
Outreach News: LPC continues its outreach: 650 breakfasts weekly to hungry children in settlements on Lake Chapala’s eastern shores, plus despensas (staple foods) to Mezcala. Rebecca Roth has started a Saturday morning sewing class at LPC, which 8-10 women attend. They are creating beautiful dolls: each a unique work of art that can be sold at a profit. Lake Chapala Baptist
Moses prayed to God in Psalm 90: “Satisfy us in the morning with your lovingkindness.” There’s a lot of dissatisfaction in our world today, but spiritual satisfaction is available for those who seek God. I looked up the Bible definition of this word “lovingkindness” because I wanted to know how God satisfies a spiritual hunger. The definition was, “help or deliverance, freely given, on a faithful basis, out of a heart of love.”
That definition tells you a lot. First, God’s help is available to anyone willing to humble themselves and seek Him. Secondly, there’s never a cost, it’s absolutely free. Third, He is faithful and will never let you down. And the last one is the best: His heart is a heart of love. Real love, God’s love, tells you the truth. Sometimes that hurts, but God’s lovingkindness is the only thing that is going satisfy your soul. Listen closely to what He says and obey the Lord because He loves you.

Teaching a young daughter to learn to cook takes patience and a committed mother to mature this experience. This pays off in real dividends down the road. But, the daughter has to begin with the basics. You certainly don’t turn her loose to roast a hen with all the trimmings. Training should continue to insure the daughter graduates to cooking maturity.
This human experience easily illustrates a clear journey in the spiritual life. It’s amazing how people can sit under teaching year after year and yet mature very little in spiritual wisdom. It has to do with their motive, intent, and commitment. The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Hebrews said, “By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one – baby’s milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago.”

TLC Biker’s Church
“TLC Bikers Church was founded for bikers, motorcycle enthusiasts and others who want to know more about God, but who don’t exactly feel comfortable walking into a traditional church. But this isn’t for sissies,” says Pastor Ken. “Just because we’re casual doesn’t mean we’re not serious about our faith.”
Pastor Ken explains that he began his career in ministry some 300 miles north of the Arctic Circle, preaching in Alaskan Pipeline construction camps. “Those crews in the camps and oilfields don’t want you to waste their time.
