CASA’s just perfect desserts

The Culinary Arts Society (CASA) August meeting saw the debut of a new category: “Picnic basket Main Dish” and “Picnic desserts.”

pg14bFirst Place and the Presentation Award in the main dish category went to Allegra Willis for her Mediterranean Picnic.

Sally Myers’ Middle Eastern Picnic took second place and the People’s Choice prize, while Beverly Denton with her Szechuan Strawberry Slaw with Pecan Parmesan Crisps came in third.

In the Picnic Desserts category, Nancy Brann was first with her Mason Jar Kahlua Brownies and her Fruit Skewers; Carol Westbrook second with her Apple Raisin Pecan Lemon Cobbler; and Jose Melendrez third with his Honey Fig Pistachio and Goat Cheese Loaf.

CASA’s next meeting is Monday, September 24, at the Monte Carlo Hotel in Chapala. The categories will be in celebration of Mexican Independence Day, celebrated September 16.
