Chapala will come to life with sound and fury Saturday, September 8, as this year’s venue for the National Banda de Guerra convention.
The gathering of drum and bugle corps troupes representing 17 localities across the nation is hosted by the local Banda de Guerra de San Francisco Asís.
The confab kicks off with a parade of participating bands along Avenida Madero, starting outside the 7-11 store at the north end of the main thoroughfare, 9 a.m. The marching musicians will continue on to the eastern leg of the waterfront malecón to take turns demonstrating performance movements and techniques at the open-air forum. The public is welcome to attend.
