St. Andrew’s service of Holy Eucharist begins Sunday, 10 a.m., and bilingual Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. Coffee hour and a time of fellowship and welcome follow the service.

Every Sunday, Operation Feed, the program supported by St. Andrew’s, welcomes donations of non-perishable food items. Boxed milk and empty cardboard egg cartons are especially welcome, in addition to rice, beans, pasta, lentils, garbanzos, oats, oil and salt. The parish distributes the donations to Lakeside’s neediest families.

Abundant Life Church
Timing. As we move from one time into another, 2018 to 2019, we should remember that the one who has perfect timing is God. There are times when we think that God is showing up late, and that may be true according to our schedule, but he is never late according to His perfect schedule. This “time” of year God wants to confirm for you that “He makes everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11.) Sunday, January 6, we will learn to recognize and trust God´s perfect timing together.
Abundant Life Church’s worship service in English is held Sundays, 10 a.m., and Bible Study, Wednesdays, 3 p.m. Spanish-language services are Sundays, noon. Spanish Bible studies are Wednesday, 6:45 p.m. A children’s ministry is held Saturday, noon, and bilingual youth meet Sunday, 6:30 p.m. Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month.

Lakeside Presbyterian
Pastor Bill Nichols will be in the Lakeside Presbyterian Church (LPC) pulpit Sunday, January 6. His sermon, “Lessons learned from the Wise Men,” is drawn from Matthew 2:1-12.
LPC is planning for continued support of needy families on Lakeside, and broader projects to bring long-term benefits for lasting welfare and education.
As a brand new year dawns, let us not forget to be thankful for our many blessings, and to reach out to those less fortunate. It may sometimes appear the challenges are beyond our means to solve, yet “random acts of kindness,” great or small, do make the world a better place.

Unitarian Universalists
Richard Clarke will speak on “Letting Go” at the next meeting of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (LCUUF) Sunday, January 6.
Every expat here at Lakeside has experienced letting go – letting go of the old home and friends and city. Letting go can be painful, but it can also bring opportunity, growth, and new joy in life. This talk will show you some of these opportunities, and how to use the many chances you have each day to “let go” as a deep spiritual process that brings more joy into your everyday life. Fred Koesling is the service leader.
The LCUUF annual general meeting will be held Sunday, February 3, following the service, at the Fellowship. The purpose is to elect members to the board of directors and to vote on the annual budget.

Jewish Congregation
Shabbat Torah services are held the first and third Saturday of the month, 10 a.m., and Shabbat evening services and potluck every second and fourth Friday, 6 p.m., at the Lake Chapala Jewish Congregation.

Christ Church Lakeside
Christ Church Lakeside, a mission of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the Feast of the Epiphany Sunday, January 6, with a service at 11 a.m. in La Huerta Events Center. Rev. Danny Borkowski will preside and give the sermon “Heresy” based on Matt. 2: 1-12.
All are welcome to come and worship. Coffee and refreshments are available before and after the service, provided by Rev. Chris Wysock.
The Christ Church Lunch Bunch will meet 1 p.m. in Tony’s Restaurant, next to SuperLake market in San Antonio Tlayacapan.

“I will grant you three wishes” eyes sparkling, said the fairy godmother (or genie, or magic unicorn, or whatever). “With my first wish, I want a hundred wishes.” Nah, they never ask for that in the stories, do they? It’s against the rules. Jesus makes an astonishing offer though that may be even 
better. “Ask me, and I will do whatever you ask. This way the Son will bring honor to the Father” (John 14:13). What would you – what do you ask for? As we begin a new year brimming with possibilities and opportunities join us at the Little Chapel by the Lake Sunday, January 6, as Pastor Jim Andrew shares “The Offer.”

The movie “I Can only IMAGINE” will be shown Wednesday,January 9, 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the chapel.

San Andrés Mass

Fr. Basil G. Royston, D. Min., will offer the homily, “The Revelation of Christ to the World,” at San Andrés Catholic Church’s service in English, Sunday, January 6, 9 a.m.
The San Andrés English congregation holds a “First Sunday of the Month Food Drive” to help support the children at Villa Infantil orphanage in Jocotepec and the sisters who care for them. Consider bringing a non-perishable food item, toilet tissue, cleaning products, and the like to Sunday’s Liturgy.

For many, this time of year often calls for resolutions. The aims are usually somewhat noble in as much as resolving to change or better our lives in some manner. Sounds good, except in most cases they don’t seem to last very long. These basically boil down to simple good intentions. Where is the strength needed? What happened to the commitment? Mere self effort exposes the weakness.
Spiritual growth and accomplishment demonstrate something deeper than mental strength, something above mere ego. It is more impacting than intention or a resolution. It demands spiritual power. It is true help in a time of need. It is a product of the heart of man, a combination of the soul and spirit. The inadequacy of a resolution calls for a revolution, not merely a resolution.

Meditation Circle
The Chapala Meditation Circle of Self Realization Fellowship holds meditation services Thursdays, 7 to 9 p.m. Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic “Autobiography of a Yogi,” founded Self Realization Fellowship in 1920 to make available the universal teachings of Kriya Yoga, a sacred spiritual science originating millennia ago in India.

Namaste Lake Chapala
This is an interfaith community focusing on the non-dual teachings found at the center of all spiritual paths. Sunday service is 11 a.m. and the goal is to enter into the direct experience of the peace that surpasses understanding. Drawing on the sacred writings of many religious traditions, including A Course on Miracles, Namaste seeks to fully embody the spiritual oneness and message at the heart of them all.

Meditation & Chanting
Chanting followed by silent meditation will regularly include live Kirtan Music at least once a month. Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. The experience is every Sunday, 5 to 6 p.m. with refreshments to follow in a beautiful home overlooking the lake at Calle Manzanillo 4 (light yellow house), Chula Vista Norte. Doors open 4:30 p.m. with refreshments and a social gathering, chanting and meditation, 5 to 6 p.m. and refreshments and a social goodbye afterward. Chairs, pillows and refreshments are provided.
