Sunday, January 27 we welcome one of our long-term missionaries back. You will be challenged and motivated to participate in what God is doing. Abdiel Morales and his family work in the Arabic world presenting the love of Christ to the descedents of Ishmael.
Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico and has services for everyone. Worship service in English is held Sundays, 10 a.m., and Bible Study, Wednesdays, 3 p.m. Spanish-language services are Sundays, noon. Spanish Bible studies are Wednesday, 6:45 p.m. A children’s ministry is held Saturday, noon, and bilingual youth meet Sunday, 6:30 p.m. Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month.

Unitarian Universalists
Where to Begin? Transformation is difficult work. How do we begin it? And where do we begin it? In the home? In the workplace? In our religious communities? In this service on transformation we’ll consider these questions and others as we approach the intertwined tasks of personal and collective transformation.
Rev. Colin Bossen from the Houston UU will be the visiting minister at the next meeting of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (LCUUF) Sunday, January 27. Rev. Matt Alspaugh will be the service leader.
The LCUUF annual general meeting will be held Sunday, February 3, following the service, at the Fellowship. The purpose is to elect members to the board of directors and to vote on the annual budget.
The Unitarians meet Sundays, 10:30 a.m., at Hidalgo 261, on the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar, opposite the Catholic Church.
Christ Church Lakeside
Christ Church Lakeside, a mission of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the Third Sunday after the Epiphany, January 27, by celebrating the Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m. in La Huerta Events Center. Rev. Jim Powers will preside and give a message “The Anointed One” based on Luke 4:14-21.
All are welcome to come and worship. Coffee and refreshments are available before and after the service.

Lakeside Presbyterian
Pastor Ross Arnold went home to be with Jesus Monday, January 14. “Home” has always been a word full of meaning for Ross. He would often say that, if he ever wrote a book, it would be on the theology of home. It was also the word he repeated most during his last day. He was ready.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Ross at the Church Saturday, January 26, 1 p.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held in the courtyard after the service, to share memories of Ross.

St. Andrew’s Anglican

St. Andrew’s service of Holy Eucharist begins Sunday, 10 a.m., and bilingual Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. Coffee hour and a time of fellowship and welcome follow the service.

Every Sunday, Operation Feed, the program supported by St. Andrew’s, welcomes donations of non-perishable food items. Boxed milk and empty cardboard egg cartons are especially welcome, in addition to rice, beans, pasta, lentils, garbanzos, oats, oil and salt. The parish distributes the donations to Lakeside’s neediest families.

Too much of the public, even some Christians, have assumed that being “spiritual” can mean almost anything. A person can be in a posture of meditation, eyes closed, face up, which could pass as being spiritual. As we follow a definitive path, the word “spirit” does display itself as an entity beyond mere physical existence. Our true definition is that we are a spirit, we have a soul, and live in a body. We exist in an atmosphere where any spirit can and does exist. Yet, unless it is the Godly Spirit, it can be artificial and evil. It’s what we call spiritism or even spiritualism.
Can we see where this leads a person to satisfy themselves by assuming they are “religious?” This is shallow and incorrect. This is unsatisfactory to the one, true living God, Jehovah. To be His kind of spiritual person means to honor and worship Him as everything to your being. Mere church attendance could well be something less than authentic worship and Godly spirituality.
