Christ Church
Christ Church Lakeside, a parish of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the third Sunday after the Epiphany on January 26, 11 a.m. in La Huerta Events Center. Rev. Linda Ramos will celebrate and give a message with the theme “Discipleship,” based on Matthew 4:12-23.
Sunday School (in Spanish) convenes during the service at the Gospel Reading. Young people are welcome to share this time of lessons and discovery.
Coffee and refreshments are available before and after the service.
The congregation and friends will meet at Min Wah Restaurant, Tepalo 96 in Ajijic at 1 p.m.
Tuesday, January 21, at about 1:15 p.m., there will be a GAM Food Distribution at the last soccer field on Calle Revolucion (the street where Ajijic’s Wednesday market is held). Help is always needed to fill the buckets with food.
The Bible Study meets on Thursday, January 30, 3 p.m. at Elizabeth Carroll’s home, Galeana 35 in Ajijic. All are welcome to learn about the inspired contents of the Bible and share their insights with each other.
Lake Chapala Baptist
Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:11.)
Loving others includes encouraging one another. When people accomplish a common objective together, all are encouraged. Fellow believers encourage one another to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Just as we do, the Thessalonian Christians faced struggles and an uncertain future. Paul wrote to encourage them, reminding them of their faith and love and hope in Christ, all of which prepared them to be ready for the Lord’s return. With these assurances they could keep encouraging one another and building each other up. The gift of encouragement is important in our lives. Encouragement is a gift in the home, the workplace, the church – wherever we find ourselves. We can be there for one another. We can listen, comfort, console, affirm. It’s a way of living out the command to love one another. Take time to recall the people who’ve been encouragers in your life. They’re the ones who were there when you thought you’d never laugh again. They were the ones who listened to you; whereas others just talked. Then ask yourself, “When was the last time I encouraged someone?” It’s not difficult, and the people you encourage are so blessed by it.

Lakeside Presbyterian
Sunday, January 26, Dr. Wayne cook, senior pastor concludes the sermon series on the model prayer Jesus taught his disciples at Lakeside Presbyterian Church (LPC). “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.” This epilogue to the lord’s prayer was probably not part of the prayer Jesus gave to his disciples. Even so it is a fitting summary to the prayer and contains ideas that are found elsewhere in scripture.
A new expanded outreach to the community “discipleship empowerment” is a study of 16 separate, major faith-building topics held each Monday at 10 a.m. and again at 3 p.m. Presented twice. Attend either as it fits your schedule. The topics tackle present day issues we all wonder about but seldom settle in our hearts. The study of discipleship topics is an attempt to use authoritative, scripture based, DVD led teaching presentations – pausing for time for reflection and discussion. There is no required home study. Textbooks and handouts will be provided for registered attendees. All are welcome.
In February, LPC begins a new sermon series based on Rick Warren’s book, “Purpose Driven Life.” The first sentence reads: “It’s not about you.” The first chapter goes on to explain how the quest for personal fulfillment, satisfaction, and meaning can be found only in understanding and doing what God placed you on earth to do. The six-week sermon series will be followed by a forum style discussion immediately after services for those wishing deeper discussion.

Unitarian Universalists
Fred Harland will speak on “What Unitarian Universalists Believe – Or Don’t” Sunday, January 26 at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The service will explore – through readings, hymns and presentations – different “takes” on UU belief. The hope is to generate discussion, which we will have at the close of the service.

St. Andrew’s Anglican
Sunday, January 26, the Reverend Dr. Jim Priddy will preside and preach at St. Andrew’s service of Holy Eucharist, 10 a.m. Coffee hour, a time of fellowship and welcome, follows the service.
This Sunday, St. Andrew’s will celebrate the long service of the Reverend Iris Slocombe and her husband Bert. Iris was the first rector of St. Andrew’s, serving in that capacity from 1999 to 2005. All who know the Slocombes are cordially invited to join them.

St. Andrew’s annual general meeting will be held after services on Sunday, February 16.
Every Sunday, Operation Feed, a program supported by St. Andrew’s, welcomes donations of non-perishable food items. Boxed milk and empty cardboard egg cartons are especially welcome, in addition to rice, beans, pasta, lentils, garbanzos, oats, oil and salt. The parish distributes these foodstuffs to the Lakeside’s neediest families.
Decluttering? If so, don’t forget Todo Bueno. Donations or consignments benefit St. Andrew’s Outreach Ministry. Everything from clothing, kitchenware, electronics, books, furniture, appliances, collectibles to sports equipment are welcomed.
