The Chapala government cancelled its annual ceremony commemorating the birthday of distinguished Mexican president Benito Juárez, scheduled for Saturday, March 21.
The event was axed as social distancing to avoid bringing the usual crowd of city officials, local Masons and schoolchildren. Instead, a floral tribute in his memory was placed at the foot of the solitary bronze bust that stands in the Plaza de la Hermandad opposite City Hall.
