Christ Church

Christ Church Lakeside, a parish of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the eleventh Sunday After Pentecost, August 16, celebrating the Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m. via Zoom. Rev. Jim Powers will celebrate and give a message with the theme “From the Heart” based on Matthew 15:10-28.

A Food distribution will be held Tuesday, August 18, 1 p.m. at the last soccer field on Calle Revolución, the street where Ajijic’s Wednesday market is held. Help is always needed. Don’t forget to bring your mask.

Help is always needed to fill the buckets with food for distribution to the very needy.  For in Acts 20:35 it is written, “In all this I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus, for himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

The Bible Study group, hosted by Rev. Danny Borkowski, meets via Zoom Wednesday, August 19, 1:30 p.m. to learn about the inspired contents of the Bible and share their insights with each other.

For those who would like to join either the Sunday Holy Eucharist and/or the Bible Study, and need information for joining the Zoom events, please contact Kay Borkowski at 376-766-2495, or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. Lakeside Presbyterian

Sunday, August 16, 10 a.m., Dr. Wayne Cook responds to the often-asked question: “How big is Our God?” The answers are thought-provoking: “Big enough to know everything, to do anything, to be everywhere.” Recorded versions are available on facebook.com/lpcchapala, and on www.lpcchapala.org. Devotionals are posted to these sites Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.

With the generous support of Chapala Sunrise Rotary Club, Martin Thorner’s Outreach Ministry makes weekly deliveries of despensas to dozens of needy Lakeside families. In addition to food staples, the packages now contain facemasks fabricated by an LPC congregant, in an attempt to keep everyone healthy.

We truly are all in this together, and together we shall overcome. Love each other generously in this stressful time. From this week’s Inbox: “Be the person your pet thinks you are!”

Abundant Life Church

How much does God expect of you? There are many people who think that God doesn’t expect much and others who feel that the task God is giving them is beyond their abilities. God has called every believer to take the message of Jesus to the world. That is a big job and it seems even larger when we start to compare ourselves with others who seem so much better equipped. If God is the one who is calling then we can depend on him. Come this Sunday, August 16, as Pastor Gary encourages us from the Word of God to be Strong and Courageous.

We are limited to 50 people, so be one of the first to arrive. Those who cannot be with us in person will enjoy our services both on our Facebook page as well as our YouTube channel and at abundantlifechapala.com.

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico. English Bible study is Wednesdays at 3 p.m. Abundant Life Church is located at Carretera Chapala-Joco 140 in San Antonio Tlayacapan.

Lakeside Community

Fellowship

“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” (James 4:13-14).

I’m sure you’ve gone for a walk on an overcast, foggy morning. The sun begins to rise, the fog burns off and it’s gone. Life is like that. As I look back on my life I sometimes wonder, “Where did the years go?” These verses tell us that we’re not guaranteed tomorrow so it’s important for us to do a couple of things. First, enjoy today. Second, make plans for the future. There’s a multitude of financial and legal details that are important to take care of while we’re here on earth, but what about life after death. Is there such a thing? The Bible says there is, so I would encourage everyone to read the Scriptures and make plans for the future.

The church meets online every Sunday at 10 a.m.
