Christ Church
After almost six months with only online services, Christ Church Lakeside, a parish of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, celebrates it grand reopening Sunday, October 4, the eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost, celebrating the Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m. live at La Huerto Events Facility (the location of the Tuesday Farmers Market) and also via Zoom.
The Covid-19 Jalisco state ordinances and Diocesan mandates will be observed. Masks are required. Rev. Linda Ramos will celebrate and give a message based on Matthew 21:33-46.
Following the service, those wishing to have brunch/lunch will meet at Yves Restaurant.
The Loaves and Fishes Food Distribution will not be held on October 6. It will resume on October 13 at 12:30 p.m. at Calle Santa Margarita 313-A in Riberas del Pilar. The Bible study group, hosted by Rev. Jim Powers, meets via Zoom Wednesday, October 7, 1:30 p.m., to learn about the inspired contents of the Bible and share their insights with each other.

Baptist Church
The Lake Chapala Baptist Church also reopens for in-person Sunday morning services Sunday, October 4, 11 a.m., at Santa Margarita #147 in Riberas del Pilar. They abide by all the COVID rules, social distancing, sanitizing, etc.
Pastor John Linton is teaching on the book of Ephesians. He has a gift of digging deeper into the Bible and the treasures we often miss by casually reading. Knowing about God is not the same as knowing Him. Paul the apostle prays that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened, so we may know, the hope of His calling, the surpassing greatness of His power to all who believe.
Pastor John brings to life the truth of the Scriptures and leaves the congregation with personal application to our lives. Last Sunday he left us with the uplifting truth from Ephesians 1:19-23 that not only is Jesus our Divine Warrior who fights for us in spiritual battles but He goes before us in all our ways. Jesus was raised from the dead. He defeated death and now is seated at the right hand of the Father, a place of honor and sovereign power.
We have an almighty, powerful God who is for us, not against us! The Bible is God- revealed to those who would receive Jesus Christ. Join us this Sunday as we hear what our Divine Warrior has lovingly done for us.
St. Andrew’s Anglican
Franciscan Friar James Francis Twyman will preach when St. Andrew’s Anglican Church meets via Zoom for morning prayer, 10 a.m., Sunday, October 4, the eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost.
The annual St. Francis Day Blessing of the Animals will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 4, in the garden.
St. Andrew’s will reopen for in-person services Sunday, October 18, at which time the mural being painted by artist Javier Zaragoza, “The Eleven Dancing Saints,” will be unveiled. St. Andrew’s congregation will then be together again in their church to celebrate Holy Communion at 10 a.m. Sundays, continuing their tradition of excellence in music and preaching. Monthly Taizé services will resume after that at 6 pm on the third Wednesday of every month.
St. Andrew’s volunteer phone/email tree stays in touch with its members personally every week and brings vital information to the congregation through its monthly newsletter.

So many of the messages we receive in our culture are about scarcity and shortcoming. From the media we’re told we’re not beautiful, or secure, or smart or satisfied unless we purchase this product or that service. How do we stop feeding the dissatisfied infant part of us that always wants more, and find contentment with what we have? We’ll explore the nature of true abundance. This is the start of our pledge drive that funds the fellowship; Lorna Dean will speak to us about the pledge program. Heidi MacLennan is the service leader.

Lakeside Presbyterian
Sunday, October 4, Pastor Carolyn’s sermon of “A Full Life,” at the 10 a.m. service of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church (LPC). She will continue with Galatians 2:11-21.
Have you ever heard anyone say they don’t want to become Christian because they’d have to give up too much? We Christians are known for having a TON of rules. When I was a kid, the rules were: don’t smoke, don’t drink, don’t play cards, don’t dance, don’t go to movies, and more. And yet none of these rules are in the Bible.
Jesus said he came to us to have a full life — not a life of restrictions and slavery. That is one of the apostle Paul’s central themes. We see this throughout our study of Galatians that we can live a much fuller life with Jesus than without Him.
LPC will start an Instituto class on Zoom on Mondays, beginning October 19. The topic will be “Church History from the Apostles to the Pre-Reformation.” If you are interested, please message the church on Facebook. More information soon.

Abundant Life Church
Have you ever told someone to grow up? What were the circumstances behind that statement? We tend to evaluate a person’s actions and determine if they line up with what they are expected to do. I have never heard anyone tell a crying three-month old to grow up and stop crying, and never expect to. At three months old we simply know that they can´t yet grow up. God also tells us to grow up at times. As believers we are expected to do the work of adults. It is time for the church to grow up and be who God intends for us to be. Come to the worship service this Sunday, October 4, 10 a.m. but don´t be offended that you are told to grow up. Be encouraged. It means that God thinks you are ready.

Lakeside CommunityFellowship
True love desires the good of everyone rather than harm or evil. That explains the words of the apostle John, “There is no fear in love, perfect love casts out fear.” Fear is that painful emotion that arises from the thought that we may be harmed or made to suffer. Fear persists as long as we are subject to the will of someone who doesn’t desire our well-being. But the moment we come under the protection of one of good will, fear is cast out. The world is full of enemies, and as long as we’re subject to the possibility of harm from these enemies, fear is inevitable. We may make all sorts of effort to conquer fear without removing the causes but it’s extremely difficult. To understand that God is love and then completely lean upon the arm of the Beloved is the only thing that can cast out fear. If you become convinced that nothing can harm you, instantly all fear is banished. If you have fears, cast yourself into the arms of the God of love and you will find your fears vanishing.

Pastors of both Anglican churches at Lakeside will celebrate the feast of St. Francis de Assisi with blessings of the animals. Saturday, October 3, Christ Church Lakeside Reverend Jim Powers will bless animals outside Yves’ Restaurant, beginning at 2:30 p.m. and hold a short service. Sunday, October 4, Reverend Robbin Moore will bless animals in the garden of St. Andrews Anglican Church at 2 p.m. For both events, bring your animal large and small (preferably on a leash) for the blessing, and practice safe social distancing and mask wearing.
