St. Andrew’s Anglican
Rev. Robbin Moore will preach when St. Andrew’s Anglican Church meets via Zoom for morning prayer, 10 a.m., Sunday, October 11, the nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost.
St. Andrew’s will reopen for in-person services Sunday, October 18, the mural being painted by artist Javier Zaragoza, “The Eleven Dancing Saints,” will be unveiled. St. Andrew’s congregation will then be together again in their church to celebrate Holy Communion at 10 a.m. Sundays, continuing their tradition of excellence in music and preaching. Monthly Taizé services will resume after that at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month.
St. Andrew’s volunteer phone-email tree stays in touch with its members personally every week and brings vital information to the congregation through its monthly newsletter.
St. Andrew’s consignment shop, Todo Bueno, has reopened. So if you’re decluttering or clearing out your closet, please don’t forget our own resale shop. Unitarians
The Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will provide services via Zoom. Instructions for accessing the online service are at lakechapalauu.org. Jan Manning will present “Celebrations in October” at the Sunday, October 11, 10:30 a.m., service.

Lakeside Presbyterian

This Sunday, Pastor Wayne will preach on the Parts that must be crucified. His sermon is based on Ephesians 2:20-21. Paul says that he has been crucified with Christ. He died, and now Christ lives in him; we are not nailed to the cross as Jesus was, but we are to die spiritually as we come to a relationship with Jesus: 1. our feet; 2. our hands; and 3. our hearts.
LPC will start an Instituto class on Zoom on Mondays, beginning October 19. The topic will be “Church History from the Apostles to the Pre-Reformation.” If you are interested, please message the church on Facebook. More information soon.

Baptist Church
The Lake Chapala Baptist Church is open for in-person Sunday morning services Sunday, October 11, 11 a.m., at Santa Margarita #147 in Riberas del Pilar. They abide by all the COVID rules, social distancing, sanitizing, etc.

We are all familiar with First Responders. They are the ones who rescue those in imminent danger. They do what we cannot do for ourselves. The power of sin is our greatest danger and makes us dead men and women walking with no way to save ourselves. We cannot rescue ourselves from the most fearsome danger we face in this life. We are powerless, but God is able to rescue us from the slavery of sin and make us alive together with Christ.
Anything that is master over us, we are a slave to: pride, anger, bitterness, hatred, unforgiveness, lust, selfishness, slander, addictions, and nameless others, all which makes us a slave to these sins.
Last Sunday Pastor John Linton gave several excellent examples from scripture of our Conquering Christ who triumphs over all competing powers of this evil age in our study of Ephesians. Jesus is now seated at the right hand of power.
God alone through faith in Jesus Christ can save us. He is our Divine Warrior. This First Divine Responder is the one we can depend on for our eternal destiny.
Little Chapel by the Lake

Christ Church Lakeside, a parish of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, celebrated it grand reopening Sunday, October 4 with social distancing and masks on at La Huerto Events Facility (the location of the Tuesday Farmers Market).
Sunday, October 11, the nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost, Rev. Jim Powers will give the sermon “Answer the Call” based on Matt. 22: 1-14, celebrating the Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m. live and also via Zoom. The Covid-19 Jalisco state ordinances and diocesan mandates will be observed. Masks are required.
Following the service, those wishing to have brunch-lunch will meet at Janelle’s Garden Restaurant.

Abundant Life Church
A covenant of love is a promised based on a firm decision to love. Love as an emotion is nice and we all enjoy it but this kind of a promise is not based on a feeling but rather something else entirely. This kind of love is not dependent on a feeling but on a covenant between two people. A man and woman form this type of covenant when they decide to marry and as long as they both live, honoring the promise the other has made the same. This type of covenant is similar to the promise we share with God. He makes a love promise with us as we serve Him with all our heart. Come this Sunday, Oct, 11, as we go to the scriptures to discover how we often limit the way God can love us because of our own wondering heart.
