The early morning prayer of devout Jews in the New Testament times was, “I thank you Lord that thou hast not made me a Gentile [non-Jew] a slave or a woman.” some Orthodox Jews still recite this prayer/blessing today.
Paul may well have had that prayer in mind when he said in Galatians 3:28 that in Christ, “there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and females.”
This verse is the high point of Christian relationships. While the New Testament did not directly repudiate many contemporary issues like bigotry, slavery, and gender, it demanded an ethic that made discrimination impossible.

LPC supports some feeding programs at San Antonio Tlayacapan, Mezcala, La Cuesta, and La Zapotera Villages. At each location, an average of 70 children receive meals three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This week LPC delivered 34 despensas (pantry supplies) for a total of 692 despensas from January to October. We insert some Bible verses in every despensa and one Daily Bread to share the Gospel, since it is the primary goal of the church’s mission. LPC will appreciate your donations.

Unitarians
The Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will provide services via Zoom. Instructions for accessing the online service are at lakechapalauu.org. Rev. Matt Alspaugh will present “Dia de Los Muertos is Different This Year” at the Sunday, November 1, 10:30 a.m., service.
With the cemeteries closed and festivals cancelled, this is a good opportunity to delve into the origins of this holiday and understand how it informs the Mexican culture. We will feature a virtual altar slideshow presentation of loved ones and friends who have passed on. Monica Devine is the service leader.
Baptist Church
The Lake Chapala Baptist Church will record a service for Sunday, November 8, 11 a.m., at Santa Margarita #147 in Riberas del Pilar. No in-person service will be held this week, but the service will be on YouTube.
Wednesday, November 11, a prayer meeting will be held (limited to 10 people), 10 a.m. at the church, Santa Margarita #147 in Riberas del Pilar.
Thursday, November 12, a Bible study group (limited to 10 people) will also be held the in fellowship hall at the church and be recorded to put on YouTube.
Friday, November 13, the Men’s breakfast will be held at Sunrise Restaurant in San Antonio Tlayacapan, 10 a.m.
Here at Lakeside most of us have come from another country, we have passports that confirm our identity. But do you know what your heavenly passport says? Those who have believed and received Christ Jesus have passports that read; “Citizen of Heaven.” We are no longer divided by nation, tribe, or tongue. We are One! Since our union with Christ, we are called children of God. We are members of one family of the household of God. No longer divided, but knitted together; one Father, one Spirit, one Lord.
Pastor John Linton has been teaching from Ephesians 2. His teaching takes us through the Old Testament reminding us of the great division that existed between the Jews and Gentiles (non-Jews). Gentiles were once separated (living apart) from Christ; estranged from the rights of Israel as a nation with no knowledge of, or right, in God’s covenants — no promise. Gentiles were in the world without God. But now in Christ Jesus, Gentiles who once were so far away, through the blood of Christ have been brought near. Gentiles are no longer exiles, migrants, and aliens excluded from the rights of citizens but share the citizenship with God’s own people belonging to God’s household. If you are in Christ Jesus your heavenly passport reads; “Citizen of Heaven.”
Christ Church
Christ Church Lakeside, a parish of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost, November 8, by celebrating the Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m. via the Zoom teleconferencing program, hosted by Rev. Danny Borkowski. Rev. Linda Ramos will celebrate and give the message “Get Ready” based on Matthew 25:1-13.

Little Chapel by the Lake

Sunday, November 8, 11 a.m., Little Chapel welcomes Henk Kaemingk as our guest speaker during the praise and worship service. Henk and his wife, Edith, are missionaries with YWAM (Youth with a Mission) in Chihuahua, but are currently on sabbatical and staying at the local YWAM.
If you consider yourself to be at “high risk” please take care of yourself and stay home. We will be celebrating through music and scripture, with praise and thanksgiving, continuing in prayer, during the meeting time.

“What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you.” (1 John 1:1).
None of us can be an apostle, but we have the apostle John’s eyewitness account. Peter also gives us an eyewitness account in his epistle. He was an eyewitness to the manifest glory of Christ at the transfiguration. That’s why we read their accounts. All of the books written by apostles or those who were associated with the apostles are apostolic eyewitness accounts. Christ manifested Himself to them and then had them write down these records as eyewitnesses of the events. Matthew wrote it down; Mark wrote it down; Luke wrote it down, and John wrote it down. Those are their eyewitness accounts. It’s ludicrous for people to come along, whether they call themselves scholars or whatever, and attack these scriptural accounts. They’re attacking the honesty and the integrity not only of God the Holy Spirit but of these eyewitnesses, the apostles of Jesus Christ. If you’re intellectually honest take some time and read those accounts and determine for yourself if they’re authentic, trustworthy, historical accounts of the One who claimed to be, and demonstrated that He was, the Son of God.

Abundant Life Church
Are you prepared? Christmas is only 7 weeks away! You may think of this question as one pertaining to shopping and the gifts that you want to give but God wants us to be prepared for His coming. In the days of Jesus there was a man named John the Baptist who was sent to prepare the way. Today God is using the church to prepare the way. This Christmas season can be wonderful if we are prepared but it can range from stressful to impossible if we are not. Sunday, November 8, pastor Gary will share insights to help us be as prepared as we can for Jesus.
