St. Andrew’s Anglican
Sunday, December 13, St. Andrew’s congregation will worship in-person at church at 10 a.m. with the allowed 25-percent capacity – 40 people. There also will be seats available outside for more worshipers. The service will also be live-streamed.
The Rev. Robbin Moore will preach on December 13, the third Sunday of Advent.
Each Tuesday in Advent, we offer a meditation, prayer and sharing group on Zoom, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Please contact the office for details.
St. Andrew’s Outreach Committee has re-created its traditional “Angel Tree” Christmas gift program. From now until Christmas Day, Angel Tree cash donations will be accepted at our church, with donors receiving a lovely “Angel Card” to sign and hang on our Christmas tree.
After Christmas, Outreach members will use the funds to buy gifts from wish lists from two Chapala charities: Mama Cleo’s House for teenage boys, and Casa de Ancianos, a home for needy elderly and the mentally challenged. Gifts will be presented to representatives of the charities on Three Kings Sunday, January 10, during our service. Reverend Robbin will dedicate the gifts and bless the Christmas Angels. All are welcome to join us.
St. Andrew’s volunteer phone/email tree stays in touch with all congregation members personally every week and brings vital information to the congregation via our monthly newsletter.

Lake Chapala Baptist
A great cathedral was being constructed in the 12 century. The architect was inspecting the progress and asked one worker, “What is it that you are doing?” The worker replied, “I am cutting and shaping stone.” He asked another, “May I ask what you are doing?” The mason replied, “Why sir, I am bulding a catheral!” That man saw a greater vision than the task at hand and his work as a higher calling.
Jesus said, “I will build My Church...” So how does Jesus build His Church? First it must be built according to His plan. In Ephesians 4:7-16 the apostle Paul describes how the Holy Spirit has equipped believers for works of service so that the Body of Christ (the church) may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature.
Just a a cathedral is built b y many different laborers, so the Church (the body of believers) is built up by the Spiritual Gifts given to each Christian when each is exercising his/her gifts in love and truch.
The Lake Chapala Baptist Church will meet for in-person services Sunday, December 13, 11 a.m., when Pastor John Linton discusses a Biblical approach to Church growth.

Unitarians
The Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will provide services via Zoom Sunday, December 13, 10:30 a.m. Instructions for accessing the online service are at lakechapalauu.org. Rev. Matt Alspaugh will present “Entering the Heart of Darkness.”
December is the darkest month in the northern hemisphere — including here in Mexico. Most major religions of the world respond to this darkness in many and varied ways. We’ll explore some of these responses and our own responses to entering the heart of seasonal darkness.
Christ Church
Christ Church Lakeside, a parish of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the third Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday, December 13, by celebrating the Holy Eucharist, 11 a.m. in the La Huerta Eventos Facility. Rev. Danny Borkowski will celebrate and Rev. Deacon Jerry Stiles will give a message “Who Are You” based on John 1:6-8,19-28. Covid-19 ordinances and Diocesan mandates will be observed. Masks are required. There will not be a Zoom service. Those wishing to have brunch/lunch will meet at the Casa Linda Restaurant, 12:15 p.m.
A giving basket on the entrance table to the church will be ready for donations to purchase Christmas gifts for 35 children this year. Please give generously.

During a global pandemic, there are plenty of things to do for Christmas. You decorate your home; you make sure all your gifts have been bought, wrapped, and sent. You may even bake cookies to drop off at the doorstep of neighbors and friends. But preparing for the coming of Jesus isn’t so much what we do as who we are.
LPC supports some feeding programs at San Antonio Tlayacapan, Mezcala, La Cuesta, and La Zapotera Villages. At each location, an average of 70 children receive meals three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The week of November 30 to December 6, LPC delivered 32 despensas (pantry supplies). A total of 853 dispensas have been delivered so far this year. We insert some Bible verses in every despensa and one Daily Bread to share the Gospel, since it is the primary goal of the church’s mission. A common question in any age is: “Does God exist?”
Is there really a God? Well, here’s a few observations to consider if you’re searching for an objective answer:
• Discoveries in astronomy have shown beyond a reasonable doubt that the universe did, in fact, have a beginning. There was a single moment of creation.
• Advances in molecular biology have revealed vast amounts of information encoded in each and every living cell, and thousands upon thousands of exquisitely designed machines have been discovered at the molecular level. Information requires intelligence and design requires a designer.
• The universe is ordered by natural laws. Where did these laws come from and what purpose do they serve?
• Ask yourself if you believe in right and wrong and then ask yourself why. Who gave you your conscience? Why does it exist?
• People of every race, creed, color, and culture, both men and women, young and old, wise and foolish claim to have personally experienced something of the supernatural. So what are we supposed to do with all of these accounts of divine healing, answered prayer, and other miraculous phenomena? Is there something more? The question for all of us is, “Does God exist?”

San Juan Bautista

St. Mark’s Anglican,Guadalajara
A bilingual (primarily Spanish) service is held Sundays, 12:30 p.m. On the third Sunday of each month, the 12:30 p.m. Mass will be primarily in English. All recommended health precautions are observed and this service is brief (45 minutes).

St. Mark’s will hold a variation of the traditional “Lessons and Carols” service, with Holy Communion, Sunday, December 20, 12:30 p.m. in the church garden, with seasonal music, masks and social distancing. Warm clothing and a blanket or lawn chair are suggested.
