St. Andrew’s Anglican

St. Andrew’s feeding program is collecting non-perishable food items to donate to Operation Feed. Boxed milk and empty cardboard egg cartons are especially welcome, in addition to rice, beans, pasta, lentils, garbanzos, oats, oil and salt. Operation Feed distributes these foodstuffs to Lakeside’s neediest families.

Christ Church
Christ Church Lakeside, a parish of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the fourth Sunday in Lent, “Laetare Sunday,” March 14, by celebrating a Holy Eucharist service, 10 a.m., in their new location, two doors east, and on the same side of the highway as La Huerta Eventos Center. Look for the building with a red door and windows. Rev. Linda Ramos will celebrate and give the message “Lift High the Cross” based on John 3:14-21.
The service will not be Zoom televised. Covid-19 Jalisco state ordinances and diocesan mandates will be observed. Masks are required.
At 11:15 a.m., those wishing to have brunch/lunch will meet in Yves’s Restaurant, Carretera West, Ajijic, 376-766-3565.
The Loaves and Fishes Food Distribution will be held Tuesday, March 16, at 12:30 p.m. at Calle Jesus Garcia 11 in San Antonio, Tlayacapan. Help will be needed to fill the buckets with food for distribution. For your safety and others, wearing your protective gear is mandatory. Lakeside Presbyterian

The seventh commandment that God gave to Moses appears clear: Do not commit adultery. But just as Jesus “fulfilled” other commandments, he does the same with the seventh commandment. Twice in our passage, he states that what they knew was incomplete. “But I say to you” further explains the valid will of God regarding adultery. Today we will look at these: adultery by lust and adultery by divorce.
LPC supports feeding programs at Niños de San Antonio, A.C., and in the pueblos of Mezcala, La Cuesta and La Zapotera. Twenty nine despensas were delivered the first week of March for a total of 281 so far this year.

Who do you imitate? We all have tried to imitate someone or several people over the course of our lives, someone we admired. We tried to look, act, speak, dress, and basically tried to imitate them as best we could. How about trying to imitate God? Now that’s a challenge that is impossible to aspire to in all of God’s attributes. We can’t speak worlds into existence out of nothing, govern the universe, be everywhere at all times, be all-knowing, or be perfect, sinless, and completely holy. In Ephesians 5:1 we are told, ...”Be imitators of God, as beloved children.” We are image-bearers of God in that we can create, have emotions, imitate His goodness, mercy, righteousness, holiness and many other attributes though in a far more limited way. The apostle Paul is addressing believer’s as God’s children. Children are excellent at imitating their parents. As parents we see our children copy us in ways that are positive, touching, endearing, and sometimes very painful to see. God calls us to imitate Him as His beloved children. But how can we when He is invisible? Paul writes that we are to ...”walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us...” Jesus is the absolute perfect example for us to imitate. God is love; our standard and pattern for what it means to walk in love is Christ, who though He took on human flesh, perfectly bore God’s image. Jesus was motivated by His love for His Father, His compassion for His people, and to always glorify God. To be imitators as God’s beloved children is to love one another as Jesus has loved us. Whatever you do, sincerely strive to do it all for the glory of God. Who should we imitate? Imitate God by Jesus’s example as He is the exact representation of the Father. God is love!

1 John 3:19, “We shall know by this that we are of the truth and shall assure our heart before Him.” John is talking about the matter of assurance of salvation. If you’ve been born again you have every right to enjoy that assurance. Whenever an emphasis is placed on a high standard of holiness, obedience and submission to the lordship of Christ and repentance from sin, the issue of assurance becomes important because people begin to question themselves. They wonder, “Have I repented enough? Am I obedient to the Lord? Am I holy enough? Do I really know the Lord?” Those are good questions because a positive response of your heart gives you assurance. But if you’re not being exposed to a high standard of discipleship and lordship then you won’t be concerned about whether or not you’re saved because the things you’re hearing aren’t producing any kind of self-examination or conviction. But when you hear the truth of God and respond to it, that produces sanctification. You begin to be transformed. There’s no sense in having eternal life without enjoying it or being able to rejoice in the reality of it.

By every source and measurement, Christianity is the largest religion in the world with an estimated 31% of the world’s population. If that is the case and as some people say that Christianity is on the rise, why are things getting worse when Jesus teaches that everyone will know a disciple by their love?
