Community chapel for family wakes

Chapala government officials gathered Thursday, September 2, to cut the ribbon on Ajijic’s new Capilla de Velación, a new space where villagers can hold customary vigils for deceased relatives prior to funeral and burial services.

The chapel is on Calle Juan Álvarez near the corner of Guadalupe Victoria. The facility will be managed by the town’s Delegación administrator. The 177-square-meter building was constructed with 2.6 million pesos in funding from the state government.
