Masterly pianist will bedazzle Northern Lights Festival audiences

Acclaimed pianist David Fung, who will be performing February 20 and 25 during the Northern Lights Festival in Ajijic, is a busy globetrotter who has made friends in cities around the world.

pg14b“I have become accustomed to saying hello and good-bye in the same breath,” says this “consummate artist” (Washington Post) who has not only played at prestigious venues in the United States such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center, but at famous concert halls in Leipzig, Edinburgh, Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Paris, Lille, Zürich and Taipei, among many others.

Fung was intensely musical as a small boy growing up in Australia. Boston’s WCRB takes up his story: “After watching one of his brother’s violin lessons, five-year-old David, who’d never played the violin, took hold of the instrument and shocked his family by attacking (with finesse) the very passage his brother was struggling with. David’s violin lessons began then and there. At age eight, he took up the piano, and fell passionately under its spell. In his teens, he found the piano’s magic won out over his love of the violin.”
