Unitarian Universalists
Rev. Matt Alspaugh will present “Humility” at the next meeting of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Sunday, June 22, noon.
Humility seems to be very much out of fashion in the world today. Many political and business leaders, influencers, and their minions, reject being humble as a profound weakness. Instead, they think they know everything worth knowing and can accomplish anything they want, and if they can’t it isn’t worth doing. We will explore how humility as a virtue can be a support to inner peace and a gateway to gratitude. We will also celebrate the changing of the seasons, as the Summer Solstice will have occurred on Friday evening, June 20.
San Luis 19 in Riberas del Pilar and online. See lakechapalauu.org for a Zoom link.

Lakeside Presbyterian
The sermon for Sunday, June 22, is “ I AM the True Vine” from John 15.
The last of Jesus’ I AM statements in the Gospel of John is “I AM the true vine.” Jesus is the vine, he says, and we are his branches. The purpose of branches is either to bear fruit or to become fuel for the fire. It isn’t the job of the branch to create the fruit—that’s God’s job. The branch has only to stay connected to the vine. Sounds simple, but it’s even easier to lose your connection with the vine. How do we stay connected to Jesus’ life-giving vine?
English language service begins at 10 a.m. at Constitución 26, in Ajijic, 2nd floor. Enter through the back garage area and walk upstairs to the service.
Join us for coffee and refreshments after the service.

Jonah prayed from the belly of a fish, deep in the sea—isolated, desperate, and feeling far from God. Yet he turned his heart toward the temple, where mercy dwelled. In his day, only the high priest could enter God’s presence once a year. But now, through Jesus—our Great High Priest—we have access to the true Holy of Holies in heaven. Christ stands before God’s throne as King, Priest, and Savior. Where Jonah could only look, we now enter. In our lowest moments, we are not alone—our prayers rise to the throne of grace, where God hears and mercy meets us.
