Lakeside Presbyterian
Sunday, May 17, at 10 a.m. Rev. Carolyn Hanen will give the sermon, Everything Is Never Enough: A Time for Every Matter Under Heaven,” from Ecclesiastes 3.
“There is a time for everything…” These familiar words are often read at funerals because they seem comforting, reminding us that life moves through seasons of joy and sorrow, loss and healing. But Ecclesiastes 3 is more unsettling than it first appears. The Teacher reminds us that we do not control the seasons of our lives. We cannot stop time, hold onto what we love, or escape the changes that come to us all. What happens when the season you are in is one you never wanted?

Unitarian Universalist
Richard Clarke presents “What We Can Learn from the Tibetan Book of the Dead” at the Sunday, May 17, noon service of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
Richard Clarke will explore the Tibetan Book of the Dead as a guide not just for dying, but for living with clarity in the later years of life. Drawing on Tibetan Buddhist wisdom and the open, questioning spirit of Unitarian Universalism, he shows how the “Bardo”—the space between what was and what comes next—perfectly describes the transitions of aging. The talk offers practical insights on meeting fear, letting go, facing the mind honestly, and supporting each other through life’s biggest changes. It’s direct, relatable, and grounded in real experience—an invitation to approach the final chapters of life with steadiness, curiosity, and an open heart.
The Service Associate is Carol Johnson.
All services of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship are held at San Lucas 19, Riberas de Pilar. For more information: lcuuf.org. Services are broadcast live. The link for the Zoom service is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/233941792.

Common Ground Fellowship / Little Chapel by the Lake
We humans tend to make God in our own image. As such, we often ascribe to Him or Her our ideas of what is right or wrong. But really, what is the human condition? Join us this Sunday as Dr. Ted Rogers explores this concept while engaging in Romans.
CGFLC is a bilingual, friendly, and all-inclusive place to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe the church exists primarily for the benefit of those outside it as we seek to make Christ’s love known to others by serving our community in a feeding ministry and various other forms of aid. Additionally, we gladly accept donations of clothing and non-perishable food items that go directly to families in need in our purple donation box in front of the Chapel. Among our missions, we also host a Saturday car wash fundraiser for Mama Cleo’s boys home from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each week, and we have a Saturday outreach to children in need in Chapala.
There is a time of singing on Sundays, 9 a.m. and a prayer time at 10 a.m. The main worship service begins at 11 a.m. and includes a children’s church. Wednesdays at 5 p.m., Belva Velazquez leads a Bible Study.
