Voting starts for Best of the Best at Lakeside

Preliminary polling is underway in the online 2015 Best of the Best, People’s Choice Awards and votes and write-in nominations are rolling in. This ImagenMX poll allows lakeside residents to give credit to businesses that have served them well during the year.

Chapala celebrates Navy Day in Mexico

Chapala marked the commemoration of the Dia de la Marina (Navy Day) with a traditional ceremony held early Monday, June 1 at the waterfront Malecon. Local Luis Jorge Ochoa presided at the event, accompanied by Mayor Joaquin Huerta and Bernardo Gutierrez Navarro, head of the Jalisco headquarters for the Federal Ministry of Communications and Transport.

Kite Festival scheduled at Ajijic waterfront

Ajijic’s waterfront Malecon will be the setting for the second annual Festival del Papalote (Kite Fest) from Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31.  Activities get under way on Friday from 1 p.m., with troubadour Moises set to perform at 3 p.m. and free workshops in kite-making paper folding, and other handicrafts, starting 4 p.m.

Jocotepec hospital welcomes first born

Jocotepec First Lady Lillian Olmedo Navarro offers a congratulatory embrace to the mother of the first infant delivered at Jocotepec’s brand new Regional Community Hospital. The healthy baby girl came into the world at 7:30 a.m. on May 19, weighing 3.1 kilos. She is the second child born to the Inclan Rivas family. Doctors reported that mother and child were in perfect health.
